This book is more geared to Americans and the American healthcare system then anything else which made it frustrating at times. You could still learn from the general information but that same information I would be able to access for free online or in my pregnancy app.

As new parents, there are a lot of doubts, questions and unknown information. I was using the what to expect app during pregnancy and postpartum. It has small daily prompts and read on blogs regarding the babies’ growth. But this book has lot more information than what is there in the app. The chapters are divided based on age and it is so helpful to understand the baby’s behavior. Truly recommend to new parents!

What is frustrating about baby advice is that there is so much of it out there. Between your coworkers, friends, family, and the Internet, everyone has “expert” advice for you. Clearly, there is a need to have a go-to source for questions and information, short of calling a pediatrician all the time. This book can be your go-to source and that’s why I would recommend it.
The good news is that there is a wide variety of subjects covered, helpful descriptions, and important facts. We consistently refer to this book in an attempt to distill good advice from bad advice. And, anybody who has been stuck in the Internet vortex of baby advice knows the feeling I’m talking about. And, this book is definitely more helpful and comprehensive than the vortex.
However, this book is also frustrating to me. First, I find that the book suffers from some organizational issues. It’s relatively minor since you can use the index to hone in on what you’re looking for. Still, I find myself hunting around for information and never having a great idea where I’ll find the relevant information. Second, I have been frustrated with some parts that I have found too anecdotal or, in my mind, contradictory. I realize this is probably the result of babies, by their nature, being confusing and not fully understood.
Overall, I recommend this book.

I’m a researcher, so the positive reviews on this book from other pregnant women and the publicity this book has had over the years seemed like the right place to start. It was beyond what I could research on the internet. This book explains absolutely everything you need to know, things you didn’t know, and the things you may not want to know but should. I went to an appointment with my doctor and asked about things referenced in this book and the doctor was in shock at knowledge and in every other appointment that followed. If you want to know a week-by-week guide as your baby to be grows through each stage, this is your book! There are hard parts to read, but there are joyous parts as well. It is informative, and I have recommended all pregnant friends to get their own copies.
