Competition for a Southern bridal magazine cover unleashes mayhem, forcing a mastermind maid of honor to stop being a people pleaser and start figuring out what she wants out of life. A hilarious, smart coming-of-age story.
Olivia “Liv” Fitzgerald’s life is on ambition autopilot. The soon-to-be-lawyer has her life plan set and can talk anyone into anything. Well, almost anything. When her scheming aunt throws her cousin, Kali, into a competition for Southern Charm’s cover alongside Liv’s best friend, Leighton, all hell breaks loose. To save the day, Liv only has to:
a) Secure the Southern Charm cover for Leighton
b) Keep Aunt Charlotte happy―and keep Kali’s Atlanta wedding running smoothly
c) Finish her final year of law school in Nashville and nab a coveted NYC big law job
d) Win over the guy of her dreams
Easy, right? From engagement parties to rehearsal dinners, readers will root for Liv as she balances her schemes, dreams, and double maid of honor duties.

If you’ve ever been in a wedding, gone to a wedding, been married, or even known someone planning a wedding you’ve got to read this book! It’s the story of Liv, the maid of honor for two weddings (you have to read the book to find out how that happens), and the struggles she undergoes trying to get her best friend chosen for the bridal issue cover of “Southern Charm” magazine. She’s got an evil aunt that comes up with some diabolical twists to stop Liv’s plans and there’s a romantic problem to deal with…..Liv has a full plate! The action never stops and you’ll keep turning the pages of this wonderful book.

Wedding Issues is a light read that will have you shaking your head as you laugh at the antics of the main characters. This is a book about the importance of female friendships, family and falling in love with your best friend’s brother even though you’ve promised her that you’ll never even date him.
Liv is finishing up her classes to become a lawyer like her father. She wants to get a job at a major law firm – not so much for herself but because she thinks it will make her dad happy. Her best friend Leighton is getting married and Liv has promised to get her a cover on the once a year wedding issue of Southern Charm magazine. Leighton is working on a new clothing line and knows that a cover article will help her new business. At the same time, her aunt wants to get her daughter on the cover. Aunt Charlotte is about the sneakiest and most conniving character that I’ve read in a long time. She manages to get Liv to agree to be her cousin’s maid of honor even though she knows that Liv is going to be Leighton’s maid of honor and the weddings are only one week apart! Liv is trying to make everyone happy so she agrees to be maid of honor at both weddings and tells each of the brides that she’ll try to get them on the cover. What ensues is utter chaos. She has bachelorette parties to plan plus all of the wedding details for both weddings. She thinks she can handle all of it plus finish law school….but can she do it without alienating either her best friend and/or her cousin? At the same time, she finds herself falling in love with Leighton’s brother and had promised her best friend years before that she would never even go on a date with him.
Liv is an interesting main character. At times I felt sorry for her being in all the chaos and trying to keep everyone happy. At other times, I wanted to shake her and tell her to quit trying to make everyone happy at her own expense. Both of the brides were interesting and totally different. Aunt Charlotte is over the top and her antics often made me laugh out loud.
This book is a fun easy read with a lot of drama and a lot of laughs. This is a debut for Elle Evans and I’m looking forward to her future books.

WEDDING ISSUES by Elle Evans
Olivia “Liv” Fitzgerald takes on maid of honor duties for her BFF Leighton and cousin Kali as they compete to be featured on the cover of a bridal magazine. If all that wasn’t enough, Liv is finishing up law school and vying for a position at a top law firm. Soon Liv gets in over her head as she plans, plots and tries to control and please everyone.
There was a lot going on here. It was giving the movie Bride Wars mashed up with a dramatic southern reality TV show. The characters were pretty surface level but likable. Reading this made me grateful I had a small, simple wedding, ha.
Overall, a fast paced, not quite a rom-com story. It kept me interested despite the cheesiness and over the top hijinks. Recommend if you’re looking for a quick read this summer.

Liv Fitzgerald has gotten herself into a predicament that gave me actual anxiety while reading this book! The lawyer to be, know to be able to talk anybody into anything has managed to secure a cover shot of her best friend’s, Leighton, wedding for Southern Charm – the “IT” magazine in the south. That is until her conniving aunt interferes and procures a competition for the spot for Liv’s cousin, Kali.
So all Liv has to do is plan the best ever bridal events for both Leighton and Kali, while trying to ensure Leighton’s events win her the spot on the cover. With her aunt throwing wrenches and mishaps, Liv is well over her head! And then, the more she and we get to know Kali, you do want the best for her too! On top of it all, she needs to finish her final year of law school and get a commitment from a prestigious law firm. Oh, and, win over the guy of her dreams without losing her best friend in the process.
This book will give you over the top hijinks with crazy antics more than romance. If you’re in it for the family and wedding drama and one disaster after another this one delivers! It was comical and enjoyable, lighter on the romance than I expected but had such lovely characters, except for Aunt Charlotte (although even she managed to warm my heart for a moment or two)!
