My husband is dead.
I attended his funeral. I watched his casket be lowered six feet into the ground. (Actually, it may have been only five feet, but that still seems like more than enough.) And then we ate an array of finger sandwiches and deviled eggs and miniature beef wellingtons that cost more than my first car.
My point is, Grant is gone. And so are all his many, many deep, dark secrets which I never really ever bothered to ask him about. He is never coming back.
So why do I still see his face everywhere I go?
The Widow’s Husband’s Secret Lie is an utterly addictive, unputdownable, nail-biting, absolutely gripping psychological thriller novella with a shocking, breathtaking, heartstopping, spine-chilling twist that you won’t see coming, will leave you stunned, and will literally have you picking your jaw up off the floor and bringing it to the nearest hospital for major facial reconstructive surgery.

Okay that was SO DIFFERENT for a Freida McFadden book! But… it was also so Freida at the same time! 🤔😂
I loved it! It was so funny at times but also definitely got the thriller like we all love with Frieda! It was super fast paced so it helped me in my “don’t fall in a book slump” phase!
The last 40% or so was like throw it at you hyper speed, tons of information but I love it! lol
Solid 4⭐️ book! Everyone read it! Oh and while you’re at it… everyone make sure to preorder The Boyfriend that’s coming up because that one is… oh just preorder it!! 🫣😏

A Hilarious and Clever Satirical Masterpiece!
Freida McFadden has truly outdone herself with “The Widow’s Husband’s Secret Lie.” This brilliantly written satirical novella had me laughing out loud more times than I can count! It’s not just a gripping read—it’s a witty and clever commentary that showcases McFadden’s unique ability to blend humor with suspense.
The storyline is captivating, filled with unexpected twists and turns that kept me turning the pages. But what sets this book apart is the sharp, satirical edge that McFadden brings to the narrative. Her playful self-references, especially the nod to her book “The Boyfriend,” are pure genius and add an extra layer of fun for fans of her work. It’s rare to find a thriller that can make you laugh so much while keeping you on the edge of your seat, but McFadden manages to do just that with ease.
The characters are quirky and memorable, each one contributing to the novella’s charm and humor. McFadden’s ability to poke fun at herself and the genre, all while delivering a tightly plotted story, is nothing short of brilliant. It’s clear she had a blast writing this, and that joy is infectious as you read.
If you’re looking for a book that’s not only suspenseful but also hilariously entertaining, “The Widow’s Husband’s Secret Lie” is an absolute must-read. Freida McFadden has crafted a satirical gem that’s as smart as it is funny, and I couldn’t stop reading—or laughing. Five stars for this delightful, laugh-out-loud thriller!

This book was fabulous! Kudos, Freida. I read it in one sitting and somehow she still was able to twist this story 100,000 ways in just over 100 pages. If you’ve read a lot of Freida’s novels, you’ll totally appreciate the bits and pieces of past novels that she weaves into the book. If not, you’ll miss them, and that’s sad. I wish I could call out all the things I loved, but if I did that, I’d ruin the little surprises and laughs for you.

This book started out with a bit of comedy, which made me smile. Now, first of all, who has a room in their house that they have never been in 😱, and you hearing noises up there 🤔. Could never be me. I always told my husband that I have to see in all rooms, I watch and read way too many thrillers 😂.It quickly got into the twists and turns of a typical Freida Mcfadden book. Overall, I did enjoy it, even if I did think the twists were predictable.

Wow! McFadden does it again! I couldn’t stop reading this satirical novella! In fact, I read it in one sitting. She immediately had my attention with the Prologue and kept it to the last word of the story. Actually, she caught my eye with her dedication ( I won’t spoil that…lol).
This story is a slight deviation from her normal writing. There are moments of laugh-out-loud humor as well as enough twists and turns to keep the reader guessing and wanting more. She also makes some references to some of her previous works which adds to the entertainment. Emma, Poppy, and Grant will all keep you guessing as you devour the pages of The Widow’s Husband’s Secret Lie.
I enjoyed having an author who actually brings herself into the story as well! If you love McFadden’s books, be sure to find a comfy chair in a quiet room to relax while you devour this book. You might even throw some Nickelback on the radio as well!

This book was completely absurd, had an insane amount of twists, was totally unbelievable, extremely cliche, and absolute PERFECTION. I could not put it down and found myself laughing out loud so many times throughout this jam-packed novella. It may not be for everyone, but if you are a fan of satire and can appreciate Freida’s sense of humor, this was fantastic. All the stars. No notes.

First time i am going to give freida novel a 3 star. When i start to read her 1st book locked door to housemaid series and recent the teacher all got 4 and 5 star. I think in try of much turn and twist, basic script was weak. The book have famous touch of the author but the story is weak. Any how the frida readers were not disappointed much.uresh shah.

Freida is amazing! Not only does she write mind-blowing thrillers, but also she is able to brilliantly burlesque herself, and this book is the genuine proof. Constructed by the most ridiculous plot twists from her previous novels, The Widow’s Husband’s Secret Lie is amazingly funny and page-turner. Each (short) chapter is finished with cliffhanger, and with every plot twist you can literally hear her ironic laugh.
A treat for fans of her works.

Well it’s my own fault for Not realizing that ‘satirical’ would be this absurd, but this is the first and only Freida book that I didn’t care for, and I’ve read ALL her books except for the Devil Wears Scrubs ones. Apparently this is more in that category: humor, cliches, satire, totally NOT serious.
It’s a light, quick, fun read but don’t be expecting anything like her other books that we all love.

I don’t understand where all of the negativity is coming from. The book itself states that it’s SATIRE! I went into this book not expecting it to make sense. I knew it was going to be far-fetched and absurd. Freida went above and beyond my expectations. I laughed so much. The way that she pretty much threw in every cliche in the psych thriller genre had me giggling. Then she threw in the 👗 and I lost it. 😅 This book may not be for everyone and that’s okay. Personally, I found it to be a breath of fresh air and loved the laughs it brought me. It was a quick and easy read. I hope she writes more of these novellas in the future! 5 ⭐!
