A fresh and original twist on the common issue of bullying. Kids will relate, while parents and teachers will appreciate the story’s deft handling of conflict resolution (which happens without adult intervention).
Mean Jean was Recess Queen
and nobody said any different.
Nobody swung until Mean Jean swung.
Nobody kicked until Mean Jean kicked.
Nobody bounced until Mean Jean bounced.
If kids ever crossed her, she’d push ’em and smoosh ’em
lollapaloosh ’em, hammer ’em, slammer ’em
kitz and kajammer ’em.
Until a new kid came to school!
With her irrepressible spirit, the new girl dethrones the reigning recess bully by becoming her friend in this infectious playground romp.

Love this book at the start of school. Kids really take to the characters and the message.

Great for teaching about bullying and being kind. This book is mostly used as a read aloud for kids rather than independent reading. The independent reading level for this book would probably be more suitable for a 9/10 year old.

Great book for kinder and 1st grade to discuss bullying/friendship. Great resources available on TPT to coordinate with book.

I had looked for a book that would spell out the lesson to learn in a more straight forward way. But this seems to work as my 5-year-old really enjoys the story and it sparks a conversation about why the lead character is so mean to other kids. Easy to read out loud and fun colorful illustration.

The seller described the book in “Good” condition. The book however was received in “like-new” condition.
Very satisfied with this purchase. This book was purchased for use in the elementary classroom for teaching Social Skills.
