A MISSING GIRL
AN ORPHANAGE FILLED WITH SECRETS
Order the new psychological crime thriller from bestselling author Daniel G. Miller
Hazel wants a new life.
She’s thirty years old, single, and her private investigation business is months away from folding.
Her luck takes a turn when Madeline Hemsley, a mysterious socialite, pays Hazel a visit with an offer too enticing to resist. An orphan girl has disappeared from a children’s home—The Orphanage By The Lake, as the locals call it—and Madeline wants Hazel to find her.
At first glance, it appears to be a standard runaway case, but as Hazel plunges into the investigation, she finds signs of something more: unexplained blood stains, cryptic symbols, sinister figures shadowing her every move. The more she digs, the more she realizes that The Orphanage By The Lake holds terrifying secrets, and even worse…
…so does Madeline.
Fans of Freida McFadden’s “The Housemaid”, Charlie Donlea’s “The Girl Who Was Taken”, and Karin Slaughter’s “Pretty Girls” will love this twisty, suspenseful thill-ride.

I loved this book! Couldn’t put it down, finished within 24 hours. The author does a fantastic job with each character- depth, quirks, they were very endearing… I was invested in them. Great plot, flowing read, and very enjoyable! My only sadness is not being able to download the next book in the series yet! Can February 2025 come a little sooner please?! Five stars, highly recommend!

I finished the book 3 days after I received. Only complaint I have is the sleepless nights I had because I couldn’t stop reading it!! Suspenseful story, great writing.

I am a seasoned reader of crime and thrillers & I really loved this book. The main character is well thought out & interesting, which only adds to how fast-paced & compelling the story line is as it developed. This had me hooked and I was thrilled to find out there’s a second book!

This book was a fun ride! Lots of intrigue and action. There were a couple of predictable outcomes but still fun and engaging.

After many years of reading books of mystery/thriller, I found this book to be an easy read and not unnecessarily complicated. Liked the fact that it was a continuous storyline, not jumping from different time frames or characters each chapter. Read in one evening and it was enjoyable.

I enjoyed this so much, and I think the Character of Hazel Cho is so good, I am gong to buy the next book, and I read a couple paragraphs out loud to my 13 year old daughter and now she wants to read it!

I’m an avid reader and when I ordered a set of books a month ago, I was thrilled to start reading them. Not having known much about Mr. Miller, I decided to give this book a try just based on the title as well as the illustration on the cover. Boy, I did not realize how good of a book I would be picking up and reading. The story was an interesting read and kept you turning the page to find out what happens. In this review I’m not going to divulge any details of the actual plot since that’s the reason you’re buying the book but, in general, it is a very vivid adventure story based upon crime and the compelling narrative to seek out the truth. In general, I highly recommend this book. So much so that I’m writing a review which I usually never leave for products

This book really has you thinking. Is it all connected? Was she manipulated, kidnapped, or left voluntary?? The whole book has you guessing. Either you know or have no idea what’s going on. It’s a steady pace book that builds the story. The last couple of chapters take it there!! That’s how you FIGHT OR FLIGHT!! Great and easy read!
Will she perserve through the unknown, danger, and suspicion? Follow the never-ending journey with Hazel Cho.

This would be a great first time read for someone just entering the psychology crime world. This book is more for someone who does not emerald thriller books all the time or watch TV crime shows. You do not really add everything together until the main character does as well but if you into crime shows then I am just going to say…GO WITH UR FIRST THOUGHT ONLY HALF WAY IN. THE TWIST IS ACTUALLY PRETTY GOOD. BUT THEN I THOUGHT ABOUT IT AND IT ADDS UP. REALLY NICE BOOK.
I only gave it 3 stars cause I predicted the end and I was pretty much spot on. Due to me watching a lot of TV dramas lol. Other than that it was a good read.

So, I consume books like potato chips and downloaded this one with minimal expectations. And it is one of the best stories I’ve read in a long time. The main character Hazel is very compelling— she is sympathetic, smart, imperfect, and driven— and the story was riveting. My heart was pounding when the story reached its pinnacle and all I want to do now is read the next book in the series. As a Gen Xer with Gen Z kids, I don’t always relate to Millenial characters but that was not an issue in the case of this heroine and the world the author created for her. Bonus that the book provides compelling yet casual glimpses into Korean American culture.
