Detailed description:
It’s the night before preschool, and a little boy named Billy is so nervous he can’t fall asleep. The friends he makes the next day at school give him a reason not to sleep the next night, either: he’s too excited about going back! The book’s simple rhyming text and sweet illustrations will soothe any child’s fears about the first day of school.

This is cute, I love the themes. Nervousness, insecurity, kindness and compassion. It touches on all the feelings my shy and very introverted daughter probably felt leading up to, and during the first few weeks of, preschool. I sort of dislike that the teacher is just “Justin,” as my daughter is used to using a title with teachers, so it took her a little bit to understand that Justin was the teacher.
I wish I had known before buying that it portrays FULL DAY preschool, my daughter had a bit of anxiety reading this, because even though I drilled it into her that I would pick her up BEFORE nap time, this book made it hard for her to 100% trust that. She thought preschool meant you stay there all day, and until she had experienced several weeks of me picking her up, she was worried I’d leave her there for nap time. Once I found more books, including some that portrayed 1/2 days, she started to get that some kids will stay at preschool all day, but not her, and it was better.

Bought for my 3 year old nephew who was going to start preschool. Nice way to introduce what the experience would possibly be like. Made the transition to preschool a little easier.

This book is such a fun intro to preschool! My kids actually love all of the books in this “collection”. They are fun to read; they have a great rhythm to them while making new and sometimes nervous situations easier for their little minds to digest. The common thread of the books even adds to the easing of the nerves for a new experience to come!

This book was initially given to us as a gift from a friend for my toddler’s 3rd birthday. He loves this book so much and asks for it by name. So when his cousin turned 3 a few months later, I had to get it for his cousin. They love it to. It’s super cute and very relatable for any toddler going to preschool. Highly recommend this book for any toddler going to preschool! Super cute and fun and encouraging.
