I can not recommend this book enough. I’ve been in peri-menopause for about a year and half already so I’ve listened, read, visited doctor’s and been on hormone replacement therapy for over a year already. This book laid out so much easily, clearly and offered a variety of solutions and tools we can all do. I even had my 72 year old mother read it to help clarify what she went through and answer questions on WHY her body felt the way it did and importantly HOW / WHY it broke down in a variety of ways after! All women read this.

Packed with practical ways to enhance health in this phase. Let’s hope the medical professionals turbo charge their efforts and catchup.

  3. The Joyful Decorator

This book has been such a helpful resource as I’ve navigated through this wacky menopausal journey. I appreciated the chapter on how to talk to my doctor about labs I wanted and felt prepared to discuss my HRT options with her, after reading this book. I’ve shared this book with so many folks and have talked to my husband about what I’ve leaned too. The toolkit section is super helpful also, as it discusses an immense amount of symptoms that we could experience, and what to do to help relieve those symptoms. I’m so appreciative of this book and the suggestions it offers, the research that’s been done to help us, and most importantly that this topic has become more openly discussed so that we women have options. Let’s face it, menopause affects all of us in some capacity. We’re either going to go through it ourselves, or we have women in our lives who will go through it. Better to be armed with facts and helpful advice for smoother sailing through this stage of life. Highly recommend!

I am so thankful for Dr. Haver! This book is so easy to read and answers questions that nobody else seems to answer. I recommend it to anyone in perimenopause.

I wish I had found this amazing resource sooner. So many of my problems were just lack of estrogen. Now that I’ve found this book I feel empowered to take control of my health. I have an understanding of what is happening in my body! At 52, I’m now having informed conversations about my health with my doctors. So grateful! I had frozen shoulder at 49 and 50 years old. I lived through so much pain. I never understood that was just low estrogen in my body. I love the passion that Mary Claire has. I bought the hard cover book and then bought it on audible to listen as well. I’m busy, and struggle to have time to sit to read, so loved the audible version. Read by the author, you can tell she just wants to help and inform all women! It felt like a friend coming through! I loved having the book to highlight questions for my doctor and things I wanted to refer back to. I follow her now on Instagram. Grateful to have such a passionate women in our corner educating us. I will tell every 30 – 40 year old women I know about this book. I wish I had this information a lot younger then I did. So important to understand what is happening in our bodies; I was clueless!! I have already been telling my 20 year old daughters about menopause. We need to be talking about this stuff and not suffering silently! COME ON LADIES, let’s help each other!!!

I’ve been in peri menopause since I was 42; but I can only say this now, because I didn’t have a clue until 3 months ago. I’ve been in pain for more than 7 years and no doctor could help me. I’m 49 now, still dealing with menopause symptoms every day, but thanks to Mary Claire’s book, I not only have the necessary tool kit to deal with it all but also I built a good knowledge to stand grounds with doctors. I have read “woman on fire” from Sheila de Liz prior to reading this book, but this one beats it with an exhaustive view on symptoms and appropriate strategies to deal with them in great details.
A god’s sent gift to all women over 35…. It is not too early to read it! Go get it, read it and keep it throughout your journey. Thanks Mary Claire!!

  9. Joanne Jakab

This is a must read book. Science has advanced and women MDs are paving the HOT way forward. This is not a flash in the pan. Pun intended but I am serious. This is the era for women’s health…finally making inroads to create functional health care not just pharmaceutical bandaids. Look pharmaceuticals can offer amazing advanced medical care but when we aren’t able to get to the source of the issue we are not treating the causes only the symptoms. Dr.Haver maps out the actual issues and offers an array of solutions and insights well worth exploring.

  10. Christine Sayal

This is a must read for any women with menopause symptoms. Very well written, give tons of information so you can work with your doctor to help yourself.

  11. Dee

The book was informative and I knew beforehand it was heavy on recommending hormone therapy. There are also lifestyle, nutrition and supplement options. That’s where I focused.

The author recommends food tracking and nutrition, recommends a free app and free community support. Any purchases and upgrades are optional and not needed to make some good lifestyle and nutrition changes.

Some recommended supplements are also sold by the author. However, there are other commercial sources for similar ingredients which she acknowledges.

  12. Mom3

Great read full of updated information. Would recommend to any woman in perimenopause and beyond!

If you were born female, you need to read this. I’d say maybe around 30 or first signs you just don’t feel like yourself. Be cautious, it can make you a hypochondriac in the sense that so many things are affected by hormones that a tiny headache may make you blame hormones.
Pros of this book- extremely informative. Lots of resources. Open about any affiliations.
Cons of this book – extremely informative and it may be a dull read if you are not medically inclined or are interested in this subject. In other words, its not at the 5th grade level many Americans are used to.
Overall – a must must read for anyone born female.
