“The Last Flight is thoroughly absorbing—not only because of its tantalizing plot and deft pacing, but also because of its unexpected poignancy and its satisfying, if bittersweet, resolution. The characters get under your skin.”—The New York Times Book Review

Two women. Two flights. One last chance to disappear.

Claire Cook has a perfect life. Married to the scion of a political dynasty, with a Manhattan townhouse and a staff of ten, her surroundings are elegant, her days flawlessly choreographed, and her future auspicious. But behind closed doors, nothing is quite as it seems. That perfect husband has a temper that burns bright and he’s not above using his staff to track Claire’s every move.

What he doesn’t know is that Claire has worked for months on a plan to vanish. A plan that takes her to the airport, poised to run from it all. But a chance meeting in the airport bar brings her together with a woman whose circumstances seem equally dire. Together they make a last-minute decision.

The two women switch tickets, with Claire taking Eva’s flight to Oakland, and Eva traveling to Puerto Rico as Claire. They believe the swap will give each of them the head start they need to begin again somewhere far away. But when the flight to Puerto Rico crashes, Claire realizes it’s no longer a head start but a new life. Cut off, out of options, with the news of her death about to explode in the media, Claire will assume Eva’s identity, and along with it, the secrets Eva fought so hard to keep hidden.

For fans of Lisa Jewell and Liv Constantine, The Last Flight is the story of two women—both alone, both scared—and one agonizing decision that will change the trajectory of both of their lives.

  1. Pedro

  2. Island Girl

So well executed. I love that it was full of twists and tension without relying on sex, foul language or gore to create mysterious atmosphere.

  3. pam

I read a lot! This book was exciting, thrilling, sad in ways many women can relate to in this world. Twists & turns throughout the whole read with an end totally satisfying & unexpected! A must have book…

  4. PlannerGirl81

This book had me fully engrossed for the past two days!! I totally enjoyed the characters and really felt sad for both Eva and Claire; both being stuck in horrific situations with almost nothing. Loved the ending, which I didn’t expect.

  5. Olivia

I thought the summary of the book sums it all. How wrong was I. This is a very engaging story….with plot twists here and there to keep the readers on their toes!

  6. Jordan Fields

Julie Clark’s “The Last Flight” is an exhilarating ride from start to finish! This novel is a masterful blend of suspense, emotion, and unexpected twists that keep you hooked until the very last page. Clark’s writing shines with vivid descriptions and well-drawn characters, making the reader feel deeply invested in their journeys.

The story’s clever structure, alternating between two protagonists with intersecting fates, creates a dynamic narrative that is both engaging and insightful. Each chapter peels back layers of the characters’ lives, revealing their strengths, vulnerabilities, and the lengths they will go to escape their pasts.

“The Last Flight” is more than just a thriller; it’s a profound exploration of resilience, courage, and the power of new beginnings. Whether you’re a fan of suspense or simply love a well-told story, this book is a must-read. Julie Clark has crafted a novel that is both thrilling and heartwarming, leaving a lasting impression. Highly recommended!

  7. Ellen Roumasset

I enjoyed this book and read it quickly. It was an engrossing thriller but it lacked depth. The characters were shallow and I lacked a strong connection with them. The themes of identity and authenticity were portrayed in a stereotypical way, the orphan with a drug addicted mother and the evil men both women are entrapped and abused by. This book would make an excellent lifetime movie. The plot is creative but the book is not profound reading.

  8. Sabinas bokstuga

The setup could not be more alluring. “Must find out what happens!” Does level out about half way in though. Great female characters. Great writing. All in all a good read.

  9. Kristen

The book had me quickly turning pages to find out what would happen to Eva and Claire. Great thriller!

I really liked the stylistic choice of both narrators telling their stories intertwining past and present. I appreciated the themes of identity and abuse women experience. I felt the themes were pretty well developed.

  11. Mary Brantner

After reading the description I honestly was a little hesitant to read the book. I thought the description kinda summed up the whole book and there wouldn’t be any suspense or drama. Boy, was I wrong. Great book, with a surprising ending. I was so excited to see where each character ended up and how the story was going to end. It’s a fast read with less than 300 pages, so a great book to read at the beach or on snowy day.

  12. Was not downloaded on to my device and so I cannot review.

This was an Incredibly twisty story of two desperate women with an ending which was a complete surprise. This book held me enthralled to the very last page.

  13. Kindle Customer

This book is a great read.I could not stop reading it till I finished it.Not only riveting but also touching on serious issues of our time.
