Detailed description:
Enter the dazzling world of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby, a tale of wealth, ambition, and the elusive American Dream. Set in the opulent 1920s, the story follows Jay Gatsby, a self-made millionaire, who pursues his unattainable love, Daisy Buchanan. Amidst extravagant parties and societal excess, Fitzgerald weaves a narrative of love, betrayal, and the dark undercurrents of the Jazz Age. Through vivid prose and complex characters, the novel explores themes of disillusionment, class divide, and the relentless pursuit of an idealized past. With its timeless exploration of human desires and the consequences of unchecked ambition, “”The Great Gatsby”” remains a literary masterpiece that resonates across generations.
A mesmerizing portrayal of the Roaring Twenties’ decadence.
Intricate character study of love, ambition, and disillusionment.
Fitzgerald’s evocative prose transports readers to a bygone era.
A critique of the American Dream’s elusive allure.
A classic that captures the essence of a tumultuous era.

A lot of negative reviews about the print being off center or too small. The print IS small but the copy I received had zero print issues. Easy to knock out in 1-3 hours (depending on your reading speed). Intriguing characters. Although it uses a lot of “old timey” dialogue, it was still easy for me to understand. Had to look up the meaning of a FEW words, but altogether, very digestible & entertaining. And you can’t beat the price ! Less than a single Starbucks coffee.

4.5/5 Stars
In a world where money is needed to buy happiness, a young man has done everything in his power to obtain enough money to capture the attention of his long, lost love.
I remember reading this perhaps in early high school and although I enjoyed it, I enjoyed it more as an adult. The themes were clearer and oooh, did I dislike Daisy and Tom like a 1000xs more. They could destroy each other, leave chaos and broken bodies/homes in their wake, but they had their money to smooth things over enough between them and to hide their crimes. Grrr.
My only complaint is that the beginning is a little too purple prose and I realize that was huge at the time this was written, but it made it difficult to get into the story. Once I got through that, the story picked up and was very enjoyable.
This edition is absolutely stunning though. It feels very much like it was presented from the 20s era. The metallic accents and the gold lines pages are just breathtaking. Be careful with the edging though, I accidentally scraped my nail across the edge while opening up the plastic binding and it left a permanent mark. Sadness. Anyways, glad I picked up this copy.

As far as the book itself I do not understand why it is an American classic. not that great

Timeless classic. It was better than Cats, I’ll read it again and again. I even heard that Leonardo cut his hand during one scene and kept acting! Hmm, that doesn’t sound right. Wasn’t that a different book?

I’m really sad to give 1 star to my favourite book, but I’d rather not see other readers fall in the same trap as me. The edition with the ISBN number 9781982149482 is sold as being published by Scribner, having french flaps and being “The Only Authorized Edition”. It’s not only not the Scribner edition, since it’s printed by Amazon (see photo), but it doesn’t have any french flaps and the quality of the print and the materials is quite bad and far from the Scribner editions. I’m very disappointed by the product I received, it is definitely not the edition that I expected from the description and edition details.
