13 reviews for The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People: 30th Anniversary Edition (The Covey Habits Series)

  1. Syed Niaz Ali Shah

The print of the book I received is not worthy on this price.

  2. Eduardo Kuwakino

Gran libro.

I bought the first edition of this book as soon as it was published. Today, I’m even more impressed by this new edition.

Bragging moment: Many years ago, at BYU’s Education Week, I was walking next to Stephen Covey as we left a class about homeschooling. In that class, the speaker had used a quadrant-based drawing to explain his approach to education.

As we walked and talked – Stephen told me how the quadrants approach worked with one of his current projects, too. I was fascinated by this very visual way to understand concepts.

And then, saying a quick goodbye, Stephen started speed-walking to… well, wherever he was going to, next. (I was on my way to the next Education Week class.)

So, in that moment, I had a glimpse into a vital organizational approach that was emerging, even before Stephen Covey’s book was available.

    I’ve never forgotten it.

    Anyway…

That may be why Covey’s advice resonated with me, as soon as I read the first edition of this book.

Today, I’m even more impressed with this edition. I’m enjoying it even more than past editions, with a new context and fresh outlook.

If you’re trying to accomplish anything in life, not just in business, I think this is more than just a “must read.”

In fact, it’s a book that belongs in every home and office.

I think we all want to make a difference in life, and the best – and most satisfying – way to do that is to be effective. For me, the 7 Habits approach always works, and this book is the very best way to make the most of it.

it is the one of the most life changing/perception changing books that I ever read. first time I read the book in 1998 when I am studying in class 12. Today I am working as General Manager in CPSU and suddenly some content come to my mind suddenly and then I decided to read this book again to reap the benefits. Since I get the stuffs from this book which helps to inculcate the habits that helps me to excel in life I decided to write a review about the book, so that others may be benefited. It must be for every people either he is a student/professional/corporater, its guides you at every steps. Perception is the most important thing that hekps to excel in life is one of the most profound things that I assimilate from this book. Perception may not be changed in years but may change instanenouly and once your perception changes in positive direction you may achieve anything, is the crux of book.

“The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People” by Stephen Covey is a self-help and personal development book that offers a holistic approach to effectiveness and success. Covey presents a framework of seven habits that can help individuals become more proactive, focused on personal growth, and able to achieve their goals. The seven habits are:

Be Proactive: Taking initiative and responsibility for one’s actions.
Begin with the End in Mind: Defining one’s values and goals before taking action.
Put First Things First: Prioritizing and focusing on important tasks.
Think Win-Win: Cultivating a mindset of mutual benefit and collaboration.
Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood: Listening actively before communicating.
Synergize: Working effectively with others to create solutions greater than the sum of individual efforts.
Sharpen the Saw: Continuous self-improvement and renewal in the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects.
Covey’s book emphasizes the importance of personal integrity, principles-centered living, and aligning one’s actions with core values. By adopting these habits, individuals can enhance their effectiveness in both personal and professional aspects of their lives.

This is book for personal development and relationship management. In this book, the author used a top-down, inside-out approach to help the readers to develop effectiveness in their personal life and in their relationship with others.

This approach belongs to so called the character ethic approaches, which emphasizes that “there are basic principles of effective living, and that people can only experience true success and enduring happiness as they learn and integrate these principles into their basic character.”

The author’s argument is that developing a principle center of ourselves is essential to form an effective, mature, independent individual, which becomes the foundation for trustworthy, interdependent relationships with others.

The seven principles and the corresponding seven habits presented in this book are thus a part of a sequential development process. From top to down, from inside to outside, this process allows the reader to introspect, evaluate and then change their own paradigms of life and finally to live in harmony with their principles, their values in an ever-changing, challenging, interdependent environment.

I love this book! Even though it’s over 30 years old, it’s still relevant today. I’ve bought copies for many of my friends, too,
