Perfect for the non committed, easily distracted, or the overwhelmed by a full page. I suffer from ADHD and these small pictures allow me to complete a picture while only committing to just a few minutes at a time. The pictures are very cute and whimsical. The quality of paper is thick to prevent bleeding. A must have.

Another book by Johanna Basford for lovers of her drawings. Excellent paper, well bound which opens flat once the spine is broken in. Typical drawings, but isn’t that why we love her? The drawings are small because the book is smaller (please note size) and require a steady hand for coloring (I prefer Polychromos colored pencils for fine coloring and true, rich colors which will not fade). Might not be for those who just beginning to do adult coloring or have trouble with small detail work, but for experienced colorists it is a great book for coloring in short spurts of time without committing to a larger scale work. Her other books are a great intro to the Basford style, but this is for those who want to color a complete picture in half an hour or take it along a handy size in their bags.

I got one for my mother’s birthday and one for myself. I love the low commitment opportunity to color I think it makes coloring a less stressful activity for people who tend to be a little perfectionist. I tend to overthink color palettes or get bored using the same colors over and over on a bigger coloring page to achieve a certain aesthetic and I love this little book! Its also a great way to explore different color combinations. It would be great way to keep track of some favorite colors/shading styles for future bigger projects as well. Paper quality isn’t the same as older books by this author BUT still great quality and one of my favorite coloring books in general because of the paper quality. Highly recommend!

It keeps you focused on coloring and you sometimes don’t want to stop! The pictures are so eye pleasing to color. I use inks, but put paper under the pictures so I don’t get onto the next page. I also dry dab with a paper towel, so it doesn’t smear. I have a lot of these books from this series, because they are relaxing and addictive to color!

This is a lovely small colouring book. Some pages have one picture, others have numerous small pictures. My friend is an avid colourer and loved it. It fits in a handbag for travel. If you get the urge to colour and have not got a lot of time you can do one small picture to take the edge off. Good price as it has a decent cover. Quick delivery

I have been colouring a long time and was so delighted when Johanna Basford started producing her beautiful books. I collected them all over the years and have really enjoyed the quality and whimsical content of each book. This little one is no exception.
It’s small enough to take with me easily ( I colour everywhere ) The images are small so it’s satisfying , as I don’t always have a lot of time and can complete one or two ( or more) easily . .
I love it and might purchase another copy! Beautiful images and top notch paper.

It’s Johanna Basford. Need I say more? Okay, you twisted my arm. This book may be smaller in size but the creativity, playfulness and beauty are pure Johanna. Most folks who can afford it, usually have more than 1 Basford book and for good reason. If you’re new to her art this would be a perfect introduction. Beginner to advanced and everywhere in between, any colorist would be happy to get this book.

I ordered two of these, 1 was for a gift, the other for myself. Some of the pages in the book I kept have offset printing. Some of the images on several of the pages have a grey line along side of the black line creating a double vision look. Unfortunately I had started coloring in it before I realized this so unable to return. Still usable but frustrating to think this made it out of quality control. 😟

Fue un regalo para mi hermana y le encantó!!

I like this book a lot. There are no “huge” things to color which I have grown to hate, and I hate spending days sometime weeks on one page. Then Johanna gave us Rooms of Wonder, really nice book, but all the tiny things on a two page spread…………………….My mind can’t get around all the different objects. That’s just me. I was worried this would be to tiny, like the small version of Magical Jungle. But alas, it is the prefect size for what I want. The book is like a scaled down version of all her books. I could measure but it is 3/4 the size of the others. There are smaller things like those in Enchanted Forest, Magical Jungle, Secret Garden, and World of Flowers……………… But they aren’t so small that you can’t get three colors in most, 2 colors in others, and they aren’t so small you are forced to use one. There are some small details, of course, but heck that is what we buy fine liners and gel pens for.
My favorite thing so far has been how easy it is to turn this book to get the angle I like when I color.
If you are hesitated on the size don’t be. If you love big things to color, not for you though.
Paper for me was the same color and tooth as all the others, but according to other reviews yours may vary.

Super indico.

I recently re-discovered Johanna Basford and her coloring books. The only other coloring book I have is the artist’s edition of the Secret Garden. (I wish she made more editions like that)
Overall, I’m very pleased with her signature intricate doodles that feel playful yet mature at the same time.
However, I think “serious” colorists expect too much from her books. Yes, the paper is on the thinner side. But as I watched some of her YouTube videos, I came away with a better understanding of her intent and process. She uses rather light pressure and her approach is rather unproblematic and unfussy. Her books are meant to be enjoyed by all, but I think especially by the everyman.

Using too much pressure on the paper will leave indents on the next page. Using light-medium pencil pressure and gradual layering seems to be the way to go with her coloring pages. (I tend to gravitate towards heavier pressure naturally, but this may not be an issue for others. I’m also not an expert colorist.)

    Bottom line:
I definitely like saturation and I don’t want to feel restricted with coloring, so my solution to the thin paper was ordering tracing paper and good quality drawing paper, so I could transfer her drawings and color to my heart’s content without fear of using too much pressure, and hence ruining the next page.

I think this is a reasonable solution, if you’d like to level up your coloring game (like me).
