If your like me, and don’t know where to begin with potty training, buy this book! I am a first time parent to a 2 year old (26 months) and he was showing signs of being ready, but I wasn’t, I was terrified and didn’t know where to start, and also sad to say goodbye to my baby in diapers. This book gave me the confidence that I needed and motivation to finally get started on the potty training journey. It’s a super easy read (I don’t read books) but this one was short, motivating, informative, and fun ( I read it during my son’s nap in 2 days). There is a lot of helpful tips on how to get started and how to recognize when your child is ready. Take what you need from it, every child is different. I will say that my son is very verbal for his age so that may have made this process easier. He has also been sitting on the potty from time to time over the last couple months when I’d notice his cues, I’d run him over, so he wasn’t completely new to it. The book does not recommend a small potty, though that’s what it took for my son to get comfortable on the larger potty (he was scared of the larger one at first). The first day was lots of accidents and questioning if he was ready or not (I had been loading up on liquids as it recommends and he was going every 30 mins, but once we went to regular fluids the process was so much easier for us, though the many accidents helped me recognize his cues). Mostly, this book helped me identify if he was ready and to finally feel prepared myself to actually go through with it and helped in listing the things to have to be prepared. The first day was the toughest, staying indoors for 3 days was difficult, it helps to have someone else switch you out for breaks. By day 3 my son was telling me when he needed to potty on his own, though I still gave many reminders throughout the day, we are on day 6 and I am so happy that I purchased this book. What I spent on this book has definitely paid off in the diapers I would’ve bought over the last few days!

After 2 failed attempts at potty training that were total disasters, someone recommended this book and it changed everything! My daughter really responded to this method and it helped me feel more comfortable with the whole process. After 2 days my daughter was using the potty every time she needed to go. It’s been a few months now and she rarely has accidents. The method in this book changed everything for us! Everyone should read this book before starting potty training!

It’s well written, but I don’t think giving candy as a price to children that are between 2 and 3 is the correct choice. In general it has good tips but you have to change it to your preferred way of doing things, following this to the detailed I really don’t recommend.

This is a MUST HAVE for anyone interested in potty training their toddler! What I love most about the book (besides the fact that it works!) is that it is an easy read. It’s written as if the author is speaking right to you! No complicated scientific words that I wouldn’t understand. And it’s a quick read too, because what mom (or dad) has time to sit down and read a novel when there is a toddler running around.
I also liked that it was broken down into 3 parts. (Before the 3 days, during the 3 days and after the 3 days.) I started when my daughter was 27months and I won’t lie day 1 was tough! I kept questioning maybe she was too young to start BUT by the next day it just “clicked” and she’s been telling me when she has to go potty since! It’s been two months since we started and she is strictly just in underwear, even at night! She will wake us up to tell us she has to go potty! Good bye to diapers/pull ups FOREVER!!!

Great information with list of things to get to prepare. I believe my little one was 2yrs 3 months or 2 yrs 4 months when I potty trained her using this book. Day three or four we had 100% success including staying dry at night and naps. She did have a few regressions which I wasn’t expecting so much, but those only lasted a few days. She does really great. Absolutely using this book for my next little one, when it’s time, and recommending it to others.

Potty trained my daughter (just turned 2) and son (2 and 4 months) within 3 days following the methods in this book. Easy to follow and implement if you have a busy life with not a lot of down time.

Let me start off by saying the ideas in this book do work but you as the parent have to be willing to put in the effort. The success of this program is dependent on the parent’s ability to stick with the plan and give your child your undivided attention for the first 3 days… it’s not going to be easy!

Background information: My daughter just turned 26 months and has been showing an interest in using the toilet for quite some time. I work part time so 5 days a week I’m at home with my daughter. I let her come into the restroom with me and watch me use the bathroom. Around 18 months I got her a small potty. She had been sitting on it here and there but no real success going potty. I put her in Pull Ups once she turned 2, but she was still going to the bathroom in them like it was a diaper.

I purchased this book because I wanted to get my daughter potty trained so there would be more options for preschool since being potty trained is often a requirement. This book was an easy read and I was able to finish the book in one evening. I purchased all my “supplies” and got them set up prior to the 3 day weekend – Minnie Mouse panties (30 pairs to be exact), a clear mason jar filled with M&Ms, stickers, a floor potty, a potty seat for the toilet, and a basket full of books to keep her entertained.

Day 1: Completely exhausting. There was pee everywhere and minimal success. The day dragged on and I followed my daughter around the house non-stop like her shadow. My daughter drank Capri Sun, fruit punch, apple juice, and milk like there was no tomorrow. The loads of laundry were never ending and had been peed on more times than I could count.

Day 2: I wake up to my daughter covered in throw up and throw up in her bed. I think she really over did it on the sweet drinks since the only beverages she usually drinks is milk and water. She actually refused to drink any type of beverage during the day except for milk. We had a few successes but only because I picked my daughter up mid pee stream and she finished on the potty.

Day 3: Pretty much the same as day 2. I was beginning to think my daughter wasn’t ready and was second guessing myself. I ended up reading through all the reviews again to try to give myself some hope.

Day 4: I decided to try having my daughter naked from the waist down. No undies to catch any accidents. By mid day something was finally starting to click! My daughter was saying “potty! potty! potty!” when she had to go and was actually emptying her bladder fully. I couldn’t believe my eyes.

Day 5 – 7: I put the panties back on my daughter and have been encouraging her to use the bathroom every 30 minutes to 1 hour. I sit her on the potty first thing when she wakes up and right after naps. We’ve been having 1-2 accidents per day but I feel like that should be expected in the beginning. We’ve been keeping the TV/tablets off because it really is a distraction. Yesterday (day 6) was my first day leaving the house and I was able to get my car washed and go grocery shopping with no accidents. Today we are going to try to go to the park. I’ve also had some success with her going poop in the potty but she cries when it is time to go so I think she is a little intimated.

Takeaway: I think the general idea of this book is great. Pull Ups really do feel exactly like diapers so the only way they are going to learn is by feeling the wetness. Is the 3 days+ exhausting? Yes! But your child is worth it and think of all the time and money you will be saving when you aren’t changing diapers/Pull Ups anymore. The program is not for everyone but I promise it does get better if you stick with it.
