I am only recently getting into books and reading and I’ve started with a bunch of Jeneva Rose books.
Each one I’m finishing in less than a week and this was no different.
It was really great and kept me completely intrigued. I love the twists and turns (I’m really trying to review this without giving anything away). I felt like I was reading the Desperate Middle-Aged Housewives of Atlanta 2.0

This was an average read, which if you ask me was rather stretched than required. But nonetheless, it was gripping. And the best part about this book was that the chapters weren’t all that long, although some in between were probably unnecessary.
I get why they did, what they did and I’m even glad that they took the most vital step toward cleansing Buckhead and make the world a better place by eliminating the evil. I truly hated Olivia for everything that she did. My goodness, how could one ever stoop so low for money and power? She was a vile person who got off by insulting other and crusing their self-confidence.
The stoty building was well done and again, even though being rather long than necessary – the book was fast paced. Perfect for binge reading this summer!

It’s been a while since I devoured a book in one day; One of Us is Dead was an absolute gem. Told in the perspectives of the various women of Buckhead, this book takes the reader into the sorted & privileged world of the wealthy & elite…and those who work for them. There’s Olivia, the self-titled ‘Queen of Buckhead’ vying for power, admiration & fear amongst those ‘below’ her; Karen, the successful business woman & mom who yearns for more in her life; Shannon, newly divorced former chairwoman of Buckhead’s Women’s Foundation, looking to get back her former life by any means necessary; the young country girl Crystal, the new wife trying to make nice after ‘stealing’ Shannon’s husband away; and Jenny, the owner of Glow, the prestigious salon where the women of Buckhead go to pamper themselves & unload all their secrets. Which of these women will survive Buckhead…and which one will end up dead?
One of Us is Dead was an absolute thrill ride. I didn’t know who to love, who to hate or who would end up dead until the very last chapter. This book was full of snarky dialogue, lies & enough drama to fill an entire season of Real Housewives…with just enough sex sprinkled in to add a welcomed hint of spice. I loved how each woman had the chance to tell the story from their perspective, providing great character development. By the end of the book I found myself wanting to step into Buckhead just so I could meet these women…we all know we sometime like watching the drama in person, don’t lie!
Make sure to clear your schedule because you won’t want to put this one down. You have to get to the end to figure out who’s dead, who did it, and why…and the twist at the end? Absolute perfection! Definitely read One of Us is Dead!

This was an amazing book. Kept seeing it mentioned in one of the psychological thriller book groups I’m in and finally decided to give it a shot. I’m so glad I did because it was so hard to put the book down. I loved her writing! So much so I went and bought The Perfect Marriage, Home is Where the Bodies Are, and You Shouldn’t Have Come Here immediately after. I’m hooked. And a Jeneva Rose fan for life.

It’s a fine book – the story and characters and interesting, but I found it pretty slow and sometimes even boring. The last 20% of the book is the best.

Freida McFadden fans with love the twists on twists on twists at the end. This was like ‘Big Little Lies’ without the children. ‘Pretty Little Liars’ meets ‘Desperate Housewives’.
One of us is dead… but you don’t know who. The POV jumps between the present as Jenny, the town’s go-to beautician, talks to the head detective, and real story about a town of housewives who get shaken up when one of them gets left for a younger woman. You wouldn’t expect it, but this becomes feminist AF. Jenny and her bestie Keisha are the two normies in this town of the eccentric and wealthy.
The audiobook was entertaining as hell because each woman reveals her catty thoughts to the reader. You feel like the one friend that knows everybody’s secrets. Jenny is voiced by the narrator from Crescent City & Throne of Glass. The younger woman is voiced by the narrator from Reminders of Him. I felt like I was hanging out with the cool girls.
But the men are as dramatic as their wives! The tea is flowing every which way and the reveals are amazing. I definitely think one of them is a certified psychopath/narcissistic PD. I really enjoyed this.
Content warnings in my Goodreads review. There are serious themes involved but I felt that nothing was too dark or gratuitous. The tone is a step lighter than the Big Little Lies series.

Jeneva Rose twists a tail of gossip and murder in Buckhead. It all started when Bryce brought Crystal home from Texas dumping Shannon. Bryce and Shannon were the “it” couple until Bryce upgraded to a younger model catapulting his political status while destroying Shannon’s. Alls fair in love and war.

Jeneva Rose manages to navigate a pretty decent storyline which revolves around secrets in a very facetious way. I was originally scared off by the idea of this being a gossip story. I was impressed by the turn of events at the end the way this all unfolded was good. There were periods of time in between where enough was enough and I was growing impatient with the time spent getting dolled up in the salon. Overall it’s not a solid experience from start to finish, but it certainly warrants a read.

Jeneva Rose wrote this as a confessional from Jenny’s perspective recounting the events leading up to the death. This is a character driven story about one mean woman who exerts control over the other women to make herself feel powerful. You can only have one leader and Olivia is all too keen on having this role.

I did enjoy this book. The ending was good but could have had a smoother explanation. I did like it overall though and would recommend it.
