Lightlark and it’s sequels have been high on my TBR for awhile. It seemed up alley but I didn’t have super high hopes for it and figured it would just be okay. I was wrong. I thoroughly enjoyed this. I loved the vibes it gave. No, it’s not a literary masterpiece but it is good story telling. I don’t need a perfect book to enjoy it. If the vibes are there, then I love it ! 4/5 stars! And that cliffhanger though 👌 can’t wait for book 3 !

How can I even review this book? There’s so many things I want to say but can’t even put Into words, but I will try. I completely loved Lightlark from the very first page, maybe it was the writing style that left me captivated. After finishing the book, I knew that Nightbane will not disappoint and thank God it didn’t!
Everything about this book, I loved, and I have no complaints besides the fact that I just wanted MORE! I think this book had the perfect characters, the perfect plot, the perfect pacing, the perfect action and I personally would not have changed anything about these books.
I don’t know how Alex did it, and maybe some people will think I’m overreacting but TO ME this series is magnificent so far. I would do anything to receive a physical copy of the next book. You want my soul? Take it! 😂 I never wanted this story to end and there’s something about the way Alex gives prominence to her readers.
I don’t know what to expect from the next book, but what I can say was I was Team Grim, still Team Grim and will ALWAYS be Team Grim. People might be confused on how but hey, I’m just a sucker for dark, mysterious characters. I know some people were upset about Grims actions, I was too, but I’m a person who considers “intent” and I never believed Grim intended to hurt Isla.
I did not expect that ending, WHO THE HELL WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THAT THEY WERE MARRIED! But not even that who would have thought Isla was the one to have accidentally killed all those people and the children. My heart breaks for her, and I was conflicted on how to feel with Grim taking her memories because it’s like now she’ll have to grieve all over again. I love Isla and Grim so much, that I honestly can’t even be Team Oro. It’s like, a song I love by Jazmine Sullivan called In Love With Another Man, when Isla said that Enya was right and she doesn’t deserve Oro, I thought about a part in the song and it’s so fitting:
“You should go and find someone else, who could treat you right, give you the world
Someone who understands the man you are, cause baby you shine so bright and I will just dim your star”
And if you know anything about Oro and his powers that last part is completely HIM! Im so ready for whenever book 3 comes out. I have to thank Alex for making her imagination into a book, if it wasn’t for that, I wouldn’t have been able to read this remarkable book. I would just like to say if you love fantasy with romance, action packed scenes, incredible magic systems, enemies to lovers, shadow daddies, then this book is for you! Don’t make me tell you twice!

I enjoyed both lightlark and those book. I feel this book helps to strengthen the world building of the first, I definitely had questioning in that got answered. The FMC makes some questionable ans frustrating choices, like why wait so long to speak to the oracle?? The war/conflict feels odd, maybe it’ll be better explained in the 3rd book.
I like the romance/love triangle tho I feel one side is getting way more attention than then other. I’d like the 3rd book to explore this a bit more but if it gets dragged on for a 4th book I may be done. The writing isn’t the greatest but tolerable. Overall enjoyed and will read the 3rd one

Twists upon twist till the very last page. I couldn’t put this 2nd book down and now unfortunately I have to wait for the next book in the series.
This sequel, at times, could have gone so many different ways. There are no spoilers here, so you will have to suss out the clues for yourself and the clues that were given didn’t ruin that extraordinary ending. Sadly, it does end on a cliffhanger and now to wait till November 12th for Skyshade (the Lightlark Saga book 3) to come out. I highly recommend this series and have already pre-ordered book 3. Happy reading.

I bought Lightlark on prime day on sale and finally read it. I am so happy I did because this series has consumed me. I devoured the first book far too quickly, and debated on reading the next one because I was worried about how it would end. It was quite the twist ending. And of course a Cliff hanger. I am 100% team Grim and I’ll be devastated if book 3 doesn’t go the way I am hoping. I’m thoroughly invested in their relationship.

Overall, this book was really about background building. It’s interesting to see the author twist things that you thought you knew or understood although this one was a little slower, it was still entertaining and ultimately the last 10% of the book was great. I can’t believe I have to wait till November.

I was in love with this series after Lightlark but I dare say Nightbane is even better!! I couldn’t put it down & Alex came back with even more twists then before. I don’t want to say anything else that might give anything away but if you loved Lightlark you will love this sequel!
As everyone is saying the ending is amazing & had my jaw on the ground!! I can’t wait for Skyshade & see what else is in store for these characters.

I loved Lightlark which starts this saga leading into Nightbane, equally captivating. However, I feel there’s so many unanswered questions about Isla and her relationship with Grim. Hopefully there will be a third book to complete this story.
