Do your children realize they have one of life’s greatest gifts, the ability to make choices that determine how their day will go?
Life can be rough. We can’t always control what will happen, but we can always decide how we respond to it. When we teach kids that they have the power to choose their reactions, it shifts everything! By choosing positive actions, kids feel happier and build lifelong healthy habits.
No more, “I can’t, I don’t know, or I’m not!” My Magical Choices presents 13 “I choose” statements that empower children to take responsibility for their days and inspire them to use conscious language and choose to be calm, forgiving, brave, honest, friendly, and much more.
Written by a 20-year elementary and special educator and founder of Free Kids Academy to empower kids to create their own happiness.

The Magic of Me Series is a collection of personal growth books that empower children to make choices that will lead to a healthy and happy lifestyle. The vision for the series was to give children access to learn big ideas about mindset that traditionally have only been introduced in adulthood. As an educator, Becky Cummings was aware that between the ages of 0-7, the brain is in the most influential learning stage. It is here that the majority of the subconscious mind and its beliefs are formed. Therefore, the series was created to target boys and girls ages 2-8. Using vibrant illustrations and simple language in rhyming verse, powerful concepts are explicitly presented so they can be easily understood and applied by little minds. My Magical Choices is a beautiful book showing that you have the power and choice towards how you react and behave in situations, the magic to be you.
On each page it starts with ‘I choose’ which children can be encouraged to repeat. I think this is a really lovely idea as the more they repeat it the more they’ll believe it’s true! The book has a range of things children could choose to do shown in a positive light like be honest, be generous, be tidy. With each choice there is a little rhyme which is a very fun way to get the message across to the children as they love rhyming books.
The illustrations are gorgeous with a range of characters showing examples of these choices throughout the book. On some pages we get to see a negative (e.g. an item broken by football) but the positive is always much more noticeable which is great as it children understand and see a good choice made by the character.
This is a fantastic book which demonstrates lots of positive choices children could make and encourages them to think about the magic they have. A brilliant and inspiring read for young children.

I have read most of this author’s books. They never disappoint me. The best lesson children can get from her books is to love themselves.

My 3 year old repeated after me each of the phrases “I choose to be…”. She was engaged and interested in the book and I thought the author’s choices on the characteristics included in the book were great. As parents, we’d like to see some behavior changes from our toddler and this book presents a positive way to reinforce and have fun discussions about those positive behaviors.

Having a boy may mean seeing a lot of emotions coming from them and them not knowing how to express themselves. This is a great book to get them so they know it is okay to have bad days, good days and emotions to go along with it,
