Thankfully, the basajaun’s people have invited Jessie and her crew into the basajaunak lands. This is their golden opportunity to seek their help.
The problem is, a host of mages and mercenaries are following them. Once they take Jessie this time it won’t be just for questioning, and she won’t be coming back.
To omit this detail to the basajaunak would result in punishment. And everyone knows “punishment” with basajaunak is synonymous with an unmarked grave. But to tell them would get their visit canceled and force them to face the threat alone. Either way could mean certain death.

I was so happy to be amongst these characters again. They are so refreshing. Never a dull moment with any of them. Jessie, Austin and their teams are preparing for an unpleasant meet with Momar’s crew, meetings with cairn leaders and meeting the basajaunak. Jessie’s also working on merging her human self with her gargoyle. She’s got a full plate. But man does she and her crew handle it all with flair. They train, they conquer challenges, they worry, they travel and they battle. Every bit of it is entertainment. I think KFB’s writing is brilliant. How she takes each of these many characters’ personalities and has them interact with each other to create hilarious, mind boggling, absurd, entertaining conversations and interactions is brilliant. Chapter 8 is probably my most favorite chapter of any book. You are literally open-mouthed, gobsmacked the entire time. It is so good. I know I’ve said it before but these characters are my all time favorites! I cannot wait to see more of Austin and Jessie and everyone else in the next book with the new challenges they’ll have to face.

This series didn’t grab me in the first book, but it has gotten better with each subsequent story and this one was just awesome. The interrogation had me shaking with laughter. It is so much fun to watch all the characters come into their own, especially Nessa and Edgar here. I can’t wait to see where the series goes!

I haven’t come across a K.F. Breene book that hasn’t made me laugh. Full of intriguing plots that will have you up reading past your bed time, giggle inducing banter, wonderfully unique characters, steamy scenes that’ll have the Hubs joining’ Queen Breene’s fan club. I’ve yet to be disappointed by a KFB book, simply delightful.

I’m a fan. But I can be critical too. However, I have nothing to criticize. Ms Breene’s characters are believable, the story is entertaining and transitions smoothly from one scene to the next, and the comedic timing is perfect and not over the top. All in all, this series just gets better with each book release. I look forward to Book 7.

I love the entire Leveling Up series! The main characters are odd, weird and a bit eccentric and they have become some of my all-time favorites. I always begin a new episode with a smile and the knowledge that I will be reading deep into the night or early morning (it’s now 6:02 am and I just finished, lol). There is a great deal of action, violence and some steamy moments blended into a story that keeps me wanting more. I highly recommend the entire series, enjoy!

Edgar steals the show with his bizarre dialog.
Laughter will bubble up on every page.
The series is fun, eccentric, and it is difficult to put down until tomorrow.
