NATIONAL BESTSELLER • The trendsetting designer known for her effortless style shares the secrets of the art of layering, with more than 250 gorgeous photographs of her signature interiors.
“Livability is my true north. The materials I use time and again all change with age and wear. Not only is that okay, it’s how you achieve more than a re-creation of what you’ve already seen, or what somebody else has done. You can do this, too—I promise.”—from the introduction
Designing a room with all the vibes comes down to how you layer your décor. The more you can mix the elements of your room—your pillows, objects, patterns, and lighting—the more finished it’ll feel: not too new, not too old, but just right.
Known for her eclectic approach that stems from her California cool, Amber Lewis trains your eye in Made for Living, offering friendly advice on everything from nailing that perfect shade of paint to mismatching patterns with wild abandon to choosing a stone finish for new countertops. These pages will help you design a home that’s made to be lived in.

Glad I hit “buy now”. This is an absolutely beautiful book by Amber Lewis it has the perfect amount of high-quality photographs along with tax making it a great book to give someone or to flip through yourself. It has great design opinions and knowledge. I was hesitant because of the price but in the end this is a book that I will have forever. I would purchase this as a gift for somebody. Happy with the buy!

I loved Amber’s second book – Call it home, so after finishing it, I jumped and bought this one and it wasn’t as great. A lot of good information – room by room, design challenge at a time (“styling a shelf”, “rug”, entryway etc). I liked it a lot.
However it feels that there is only about 3 or 4 different houses photographed in this book, and many pictures and angles feel repeated, so it’s not giving the full immersion impression like in Call it home. A lot of houses in this book are simmilar, and very white. Feels airy, but also – a little boring. It shows that Amber’s style evolved over the years, and that’s great.
Still a good book, beautifully issued, and I will keep coming back for the knowledge included.

This is a really great book for the content and for decor for a coffee table or shelf. However, beware of condition on arrival, the first one I had to return because it was covered in something black all over. Also had all kinds of dings and marks on it, bent binding at top & bottom. This was a gift bought off the registry therefore very disappointing. Replacement one luckily no major damage did have some kind of black film on it, but was easily wiped off due to material of this book being a little smoother glossy material. Will try to attempt to order another again for myself, since I do really like this book. It was surprising that the second one was OK since the box came with like a 4 x 4 hole in the side completely open & exposed.

I bought three design books recommended by Jenn of No Demo Reno (she is hilarious and does beautiful design work) … quickly skimmed all three and Made for Living caught my eye the most. Read it in its entirety in a day and a half as could not put it down! Can’t even really explain why, was just very interesting and felt like I was actually learning something that I could possibly use. I have a visceral connection with nature and try to always bring the outside “in” whenever possible. Amber Lewis also seems to have this connection so her design style was similar. Also, too many new things makes a house pretentious; adding the right vintage pieces (irregardless of price) helps to calm down the materialism, which she also does. Most of the other design books are very elitist and involve a lot of (European) name dropping and things that are, quite frankly, ugly. This book was not that way and highly recommend it. (Immediately also ordered her next book “Call It Home.)

Kaft is beschadigd.
Verzending in een dunne papieren zak.
Boek zat niet in plastiek en was vies. Precies niet nieuw.
Ik ga een ander boek bestellen.
Te veel oude meubelen en vieze tapijten in het boek.
