Fun and interesting to do. It’s like pre learning for kids. I bought it for my niece. And she loves it. She can do it on car ride and keep her busy.

My just turned 5 year old (rising K student) is starting to read unfamiliar words by herself out loud after going through the first section of this book with me!!! No wonder this series is winning all the awards!
Some serious thought, and cleverness went into making this series.
I’ll illustrate what makes this book so unique in comparison to the Kindergarten Brain Quest book:
Brain Quest starts with the section on tracing the letters in order. Then follows the next section on “phonics” of the letters in order, one page each – only that the pictures for each letter are not phonetic at all, the authors just put everything that starts with the letter “E” on the “E” page without explanation or consideration that “E” can sound as in “Eagle” or “Egg”. To add to the confusion they put an apple on the “E” page, next to the egg. Say these two words and now you’ll get an idea why it is so confusing for children learning how to read and spell. Then Brain Quest, perplexingly, has yet another section about all the vowels sounds – but only the “short” sounds, and only appearing in the middle of a word – such as “short e” sound in the middle of “ten”.
Contrast the Highlights Kindergarten book: Each letter is a whole unit; Tracing is immediately followed with the accurate phonemic sound of that letter (via pictures), separating and grouping the different sounds some letters make! (Including all the consonants such as in “cat and clown” vs. “cereal and circus”!) We practiced all the letters that make more than one sound several times. Then follow some games for that letter, including a double paged search picture which is so cleverly done that even the adults in the house gathered to figure out which additional action words or verbs are displayed in the search picture. Needless to say that we all LOVE this book!
Very glad to have found this series, and hope that they will continue it to cover more grades!

Great book for preparing your child for school or to bridge their learning during summer breaks. It’s a good learning activity for your kids .

Very nice practice for our child this summer before starting Kindergarten. It starts with A, tracing uppercase then drawing their own A. Then tracing lowercase a, then drawing their own. Then tracing both in a sentence. There are 3 more pages of fun activities for each letter of the alphabet after tracing the letters. Then it goes into numbers. Then tracing short site words then activities with them. Basically, it builds upon what the child learned earlier in the book. I feel like it is good practice for what will be expected in workbooks or worksheets they will be given unlike how they can do things however they want with other activity books, coloring books, etc. For example, one exercise asked the child to circle all of the following items (showed pictures and word for each) that start with “a” in the picture on corresponding page. My son was putting an “x” on them when he found them but it was a good time to explain the directions wanted us to circle the picture when we found it, not out an “x”. He could put an “x” on the picture with the word below it once he found it to remind him he already found it. The teacher will be looking for the 8 circled items in class. He thought that was okay, and to me, possibly prepared him to follow the direction of what the teacher will be quickly glancing for when grading rather than his “x”s of checkmarks he wants to do. I hope that makes sense how I’m wording it. Anyway, I feel it’s a fun way to get the kids into doing a workbook of alphabet and numbers as it’s super colorful on every single page and different activities as well. It was a good deal for $10 and I recommend to others that have a child about to enter kindergarten! We don’t have Amazon Prime but we received this overnight, delivered on a Sunday!!!

Bought this for kindergarten grandson. I was very impressed at the thickness & variety of items it covers. My grandson did get a little bored at some things he’s been doing a while but overall enjoyed skipping thru & doing things that caught his interest in one sitting. It’s longer than I’ve had him sit & work on things as a rule.

Me encanto el libro!! Esta muy entretenido, tiene dibujos bonitos y llamativos. Ahora en vacaciones lo compramos para poder repasar lo que vio en kinder y llegar mas preparado a primaria, sobretodo para practicar el ingles.

Ordered this book to work with my daughter over the summer who will be going to kindergarten. This is great quality and good pricing. This is a pretty thick book and goes over several subjects. Definitely perfect if your homeschooling or just trying to keep your kiddo from regressing over the summer.
