  1. Love to read

I’m looking forward to a new series with Jane in the courtroom.
This was a great book, but it was the prep before the trial.
I would love to buy and read more books with Jane doing what she does best – seeing who she helps next.
Please don’t stop writing with book 3.
Jane, Jimmy, Dr Ben and Rip are great characters and I can’t wait to see what happens in their future.

  2. William J. Aucone

Another excellent thriller featuring Jane Smith from Patterson and Lupica. Can’t wait for number 3. Highly recommended to all readers.

What can you say about a Patterson novel that hasn’t already been said? Great mystery.-

I don’t think Alex Cross has competition yet. I liked the main characters. I did not like so many names to keep straight with no character build up besides mob boy. So, in all,a bit of a confusing read with too many danglers at the end. The cancer was overkill, and I’m not being ironic.

    The conversations were terrific.

I agree with some of the other comments that reference too many characters with often confusing plot lines. I had to frequently go back and check on the names of the characters to the first reference that introduced them. Thankful the kindle makes it easy to do this but was still annoying especially when the narration sometimes jumps to a characters first name.

But most of all, I was put off by the fact that the main plot started with a character being charged with a multiple murder again and with Jane defending him; however, the book ends before the trial even starts and we don’t know who committed the murder. This is a setup for the next book in the series, but how many more stories can you get where your main character is diagnosed with terminal cancer, yet in spite of the diagnosis, seems to go full bore ahead in the action without hardly missing a beat.

Finally, I had a strong feeling that the crooked cop that was outed at the end was bad early with the way he interacted with Jimmy, and that feeling was right on. No big surprise for me.

The characters are so great and relatable. We love Jane & Jimmy’s relationship, Rip the dog and triple love Dr Ben.

We can’t wait for the next book and she better beat cancer .

  11. David Logan

I enjoyed the pace and it held my interest till the end. Good reading as always

  12. Kindle Customer

These authors have a nice touch with characters and dialogue. Enjoy. The Jane character reminds me of Robert B Parker’s Sunny Randall, as does the dialogue. No matter, it’s entertaining, though I did figure out the big boss early.

  13. Margaret Hejmanowski

I love all things James Patterson and this does not disappoint! This is the first Jane Smith book, she was a character in a previous James Patterson book. Jane is a fantastic lawyer, dealing with health issues. The bad guys always seem to find her. Love the plot, great setting, and strong intense interesting characters. I can’t wait for the next Jane Smith book!!!
