A USA TODAY BESTSELLER!
From New York Times bestseller Elle Cosimano comes Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice—the fiercely anticipated next installment in the beloved Finlay Donovan series.
“Finlay Donovan is irresistible!”—Janet Evanovich
Finlay Donovan and her nanny/partner-in-crime Vero are in sore need of a girls’ weekend away. They plan a trip to Atlantic City, but odds are—seeing as it’s actually a cover story to negotiate a deal with a dangerous loan shark, save Vero’s childhood crush Javi, and hunt down a stolen car—it won’t be all fun and games. When Finlay’s ex-husband Steven and her mother insist on tagging along too, Finlay and Vero suddenly have a few too many meddlesome passengers along for the ride.
Within hours of arriving in their seedy casino hotel, it becomes clear their rescue mission is going to be a bust. Javi’s kidnapper, Marco, refuses to negotiate, demanding payment in full in exchange for Javi’s life. But that’s not all—he insists on knowing the whereabouts of his missing nephew, Ike, who mysteriously disappeared. Unable to confess what really happened to Ike, Finlay and Vero are forced to come up with a new plan: sleuth out the location of Javi and the Aston Martin, then steal them both back.
But when they sneak into the loan shark’s suite to search for clues, they find more than they bargained for—Marco’s already dead. They don’t have a clue who murdered him, only that they themselves have a very convincing motive. Then four members of the police department unexpectedly show up in town, also looking for Ike—and after Finlay’s night with hot cop Nick at the police academy, he’s a little too eager to keep her close to his side.
If Finlay can juggle a jealous ex-husband, two precocious kids, her mother’s marital issues, a decomposing loan shark, and find Vero’s missing boyfriend, she might get out of Atlantic City in one piece. But will she fold under the pressure and come clean about the things she’s done, or be forced to double down?

Not exactly cozy mysteries, the Finlay Donovan series is more a chaotic mixture of action-adventure in which Finlay and her nanny / bff get mixed-up in nefarious goings-on and in the course of trying to solve the mystery and extricate themselves, they usually end up getting themselves in far deeper than they ever could have imagined before disentangling themselves. And this one is no exception.
Finlay and her buddy, Vero, plan to travel to Atlantic City to deal with a loan shark who has stolen the Aston Martin and kidnapped an old boyfriend of Vero’s. Unfortunately, their plans get more complex when Finlay’s ex-husband insists on coming along as well as Finlay’s mother. As if that’s not enough to complicate Finlay and Vero’s plans, members of the Fairfax County Police Department, including Finlay’s new boyfriend, and her sister, follow her to Atlantic City due to an anonymous tip regarding a Russian mobster, which also draws the FBI to Finlay and Vero’s destination.
What follows is Russian mobsters, crooked cops, dead bodies, a missing hacker, loan sharks, a psychic, wild disguises, a lost dog, a kidnapped boyfriend, a stolen Aston Martin, and a thumb drive worth $14 million, all under the pretense of a girls’ weekend getaway.
These are books that are meant to lighten your day. While they don’t take themselves too seriously, the plots contain multiple threads that require scrutiny and deciphering and there are surprises (usually nasty ones) near the ends.
The novels make great weekend or vacation reading. They are light, fun escapes from the real world. And I hope Elle Cosimano keeps them coming.

Elle Cosimano writes in a way that keeps you on the edge of your seat. It’s easy to be drawn in to the live of her characters. You will find yourself saying, just one more chapter until you finally finish the book. I can hardly wait for the next one!

I am only half through the book. I like it as I also liked the other books about Finley and Vero. In this book it has too much Nick and kissing and not enough Vero and funny dialogs with her. Maybe it is only me, but I missed the girls secret solidarity and adventures. Too many mobsters and too much family and Nick for my taste. That is the reason I only give 4 points. It is a stream of senseless action and parties, not even funny. Also Finley and Vero are far from witty, like in the other books. All a bit chaotic. Only action, no planning or even suspence. I am disapointed by this last book.

Such a great story, characters were wonderful and reachable. Elle knows how to develop a story, and each of her books could easily stand alone. That is a qualifying aspect of this review. And Elle passed it. Highly recommend the series.

I swear this series is much funnier if you listen to the audiobooks!
I didn’t think I was going to enjoy this one as much as the first Finlay book but surprisingly, I did. I had so much fun with it.
I recommend reading this series in order. By the end of Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice. It felt like an arc had ended. So I’m excited about next Finlay’s adventure.
This novel begins with Finlay and Vero planning to travel to Atlantic City to find Javi and the Aston Martin but their girls’ weekend becomes complicated when they can’t leave alone. Finlay’s ex-husband Steven, her children, and her mother are all coming with them.
Their trip became even more complicated when the cops showed up.
I loved the emerging Finlay. The character continues to evolve and is becoming more assertive. I also love her friendship with Vero. They are a great duo.
I look forward to reading the next one.
Cliffhanger: No
4.5/5 Fangs

Another solid entry in the series.
After escaping the fire on the police training grounds, Finlay and Vero find the Aston Martin from Felix has been stolen along with Vero’s love interest Javi. They make their way to Atlantic City for a “girls weekend” with Finlay’s mom, the kids and Finlay’s ex-husband Steven. They stumble their way into another murder and must solve the case to clear their name, find the Aston before the police, and rescue Javi.
Finlay and Vero have a great dynamic. I love their banter and friendship. Seeing another side of Finlay’s mom added a lot to the story too. There was a lot happening in this book, many characters to follow, but I do wish there was more officer Nick. A very satisfying ending to the storyline of the first four books. You could stop here. However, I’m interested to continue reading to see where things go after that cliffhanger ending. A new adventure for Finlay. Maybe she will help solve the case instead of being wrapped up in the trouble!

From the very 1st Findlay Donovan book I have been hooked. These books are impossible to believe and that makes them fun. I laughed so much during this read. Just what I needed as my first beach read of the Summer.

At the end of book 3 I was a bit skeptical with how we were going to continue the story line. It felt like we were really reaching for it, but I was pleasantly surprised. It was a great plot, still interesting and different enough from the other books. Ended well, didn’t feel like there were loose ends.

Either i was just not I’m the right frame of mind or this just wasn’t as good as the others in the series. I didn’t find it nearly as amusing as the others.

This is the fourth book in this series. This one follows closely after the previous book whene they left the police academy training. They are in search of the Astin Martin and trying to avoid any of the Russians mob and their associates. Including a retired police detective. The trail leads to Atlantic City. But before Finlay and Vera can slip off they end up taking her kids, her ex husband and her mother. And after a circuitous route finally hit town. But surprises are coming. Her detective boyfriend, his FBI partner, her detective sister and her sister’s forensic girlfriend show up. And have brought along said retired detective they are trying to avoid. Nick will never believe that his old partner is in bed with the mob. They stumble into a dual murder crime scene, rescue a juvenile hacker and a wiener dog named Kevin Bacon. This story is full of danger and mystery. And also has lots of passion and comedy. Will Finlay be able to save herself and Vera? What about the others for which she feels responsible? Can Nick find out what’s really going on? I can hardly wait for the next adventure.
The audiobook is excellently read by Angela Dawe. She had me totally immersed in the story.
