Detailed description:
What fears are standing in your way or holding you back? How do you want to become stronger? Olympic and World champion hurdler Sydney McLaughlin wants to help you answer these questions as she shares her personal story of struggles and victories, of faith and transformation.
Sydney McLaughlin knows about facing down obstacles. She has mastered not only racing over hurdles on the track but also tackling challenges in her personal life—from lifelong battles with perfectionism and anxiety to persistent questions about her identity and whether she was “enough.”
Her pursuit of perfection and people-pleasing continued for years until God broke into her story with his overwhelming grace, transforming love, and empowering truth.
In Far Beyond Gold, Sydney will share aspects of her life story and personhood she has never shared publicly before, offering a more complex picture of who she is. She will inspire you to:
Conquer your fears in Christ’s strength
Stand strong in your identity in him
Push past your perceived limits
Overcome the challenges you’re facing
Experience the story of a woman who shifted from anxiety to boldness, from limits to freedom, and from perfectionism to purpose—and now shows the world that often what we think is impossible is possible with God.

Sydney’s story is one that anyone can relate to (probably not the gold medals or world records). I’m talking about finding your purpose in this life.
Sydney demonstrates what happens when you let go of fear and embrace something better. She doesn’t hold back in sharing her failures. She also doesn’t hold back in how she got through them.
This book will show you what’s possible when you embrace faith over fear. I’m twice her age and I found myself reminded of so many important principles of living by faith.
Read this book, learn from her story and watch your life change for the better.

I bought this book because I am a runner and I enjoy reading runner books. I was blown away by how this book was about so much more than running. I was inspired by how Sydney weaved her faith and how identity in Christ should relate to all areas of our lives throughout the whole book. She was honest and vulnerable. I appreciated how she reflected on how should could have handled situations better if her identity had been in Christ during those situations. She gives glory to God in all that she does. This book is NOT preachy but practical showing how you can apply your faith and identity in Christ in all areas of your life. I definitely recommend this book. It is very well written and I read through it faster than most books–because of how inspiring and engaging it was as well as how well it was written.

God bless you for your honest testimony of the trials you went through on your journey to accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. What an encouragement and challenge for those following a similar path in seeking Him. I write this in August 2024 when you have won another Olympic Gold Medal and broken another world record! God has lots more for you as you and Andre continue to glorify His name!

It was a great book, not only for those who love running, but for those looking for answers in life. It was especially exciting since I had just watched Sydney win another gold medal in the Paris Olympics in the 400 Hurdles!

So refreshing to read the story of a runner who is not only super successful on the track but who is also so committed to God. Indeed, as she wrote right at the end of the book, that the whole purpose of life is to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever. Highly recommended!!

Absolutely loved this book! I listened to audio version – which was phenomenal because she narrated it herself. What a long road to get where she is. Loved her honesty, her vulnerability and never-quit attitude. Beautiful girl inside and out!!!!

Awesome read with an insight that inspires triumph to conquer obstacles in one’s own life. Sydney is a dynamic athlete to watch, and from reading her memoir, an even more dynamic person off the track. Well-written and engaging from the introduction until the last chapter. She’s definitely graced to run and share her faith in God through her life’s rich experiences with the masses!
