Detailed description:

A sweeping small-town romance about love, loss, and a Montana legacy from USA Today bestselling author Devney Perry.

I met West Haven when I was eight years old. He taught me to play poker when I was nine, and we made paper airplanes together when I was eleven. He kissed me when I was sixteen. He was the best part about my family’s summer vacations to Montana. He was the boy who stole my heart. I was twenty-three when life ripped us apart.

Years later, I’m breaking my vow and returning to the ranch, not as a guest but its new owner. West might want me gone, but even he has to admit the only way to save his family’s legacy is with my help.

It’s not easy working side by side and facing those old memories. But this situation is only temporary. We’re at a crossroads. And as long as I don’t let myself fall in love with West Haven again, maybe this is our chance to put those ghosts to rest. Maybe this time we’ll finally be able to say goodbye.

This book hit me harder than I’d have ever imagined, and not just because West and Indya’s story is beautiful. It was Indya’s dad, Grant, and his fight with his illness and how it affected Indya.

I lost my dad to cancer and the way Indya dealt with it, her words in the pages… It just hit me, and I don’t mean that in a bad way. It might seem weird that I love a book that made cry so much, but I love it. I don’t cry often and this book made shed sad but also happy tears. Happy tears of memories woth my dad, of memories of his voice.

This book is beautiful and I’ll forever cherish it in my heart.

Crossroads was outstanding! It was a beautiful and emotional story with the most incredible build! I loved how everything unfolded, it was a love story that spanned over time and then culminated into an exceptional happily ever after. There were remarkable details that pulled me in and the storytelling was stellar. This book had me holding my breath and I loved it all.

Indya and West were truly amazing characters. I loved learning about their lives from the past and present and when those moments intersected and paralleled with the present day. The feelings between them ran deep and I felt that longing between them, the pull they had to one another. This story was filled with emotion and so many significant and poignant moments as they got to know each other as adults and connected. It was full of depth and layers and I loved all the nuances taking place.

I loved learning about their different family dynamics and the things that happened in their lives to form who they are. It’s complicated, messy, and real. I felt so much for West’s brother Jax and am really looking forward to his story in Sunlight. Besides Indya’s relationship with West, other aspects are unfolding related to her, and the wait to find out all those details was just as killer as waiting for the two of them to get to their HEA. There’s some mild drama along the way, really good steam, and a whole lot of emotion. My feelings were all over the place and I needed more tissues than I want to admit.

This was a descriptive story with exceptional details and I thought it moved at an exciting pace. I was filled with so many questions and I loved that it really built to those answers. I was invested and rooting for them. The ending and epilogue were wonderful, I loved the growth and healing. I thought this was a phenomenal read filled with love and heart and so much emotion! New Devney Perry favorite!

A beautiful second chance romance from Perry. I loved The Edens series and I knew this one would be a bit different. Yet it was easy to fall into the story and it’s an easy read and a well worked out story.

This is a lovely story and extremely well written. Totally enjoyed. Can not wait for the next one to come out.

I just started a new fantasy series, and I’ve found myself needing to take breaks halfway through each book and before starting the next one. It helps me stay focused with all the plot and world-building. Anyway, I was looking for a book yesterday, and when I went to pull it up, it hadn’t been released yet. So, I was scrolling and stumbled upon “Crossroads.” I’ve seen a lot of buzz about it recently on social media, so I thought, why not give it a try?

Side note: I’ve had three significant losses in my family this year and have been dealing with a lot of grief. Usually, I go for romance books with more emotional depth, but I was hoping this one would be a spicy, easy read. Little did I know what I was getting into!

This book stirred all the emotions for me. The story follows Indyah, who is dealing with significant grief, returning to the ranch she spent her childhood summers at, now as the owner and manager. Her first love and childhood friend, West, works on the ranch. The current-day timeline explores Indyah’s grief journey and the possibility of rekindling something with West. While the grief is a part of the story, it doesn’t overshadow the romance. It was such an emotional read that it left me in tears a couple of times.

This book was completely unexpected for me, and I am hooked! The story is beautiful, anchored by well-written characters with strong development and complicated, entwined family dynamics. 4.5 stars out of 5 for me – I’m very excited for the next in the series!

What a perfect series opener! I felt all the feels reading this one and I just couldn’t put it down!

This book is the perfect definition of “right person, wrong time” again and again. Indy and West’s story is both heartbreaking and healing at the same time.

The flashbacks chapters were beautifully done, and once they pulled everything together, I found myself crying and rooting desperately for a HEA.

The transition from childhood friends to lovers was precious. But the transition from lovers to then strangers back to lovers was angsty, complex and full of tension. I think my heart stopped beating during the second part of the book because the emotion was too intense to handle.

I loved the whole story, the complexity of the characters and also their growth.

There’s spice, delicious spice, and an epilogue that is everything I wished for!

I can’t wait for the next book in the series, which I know is going to be Jax’s, and I also know is going to break me and put me back together in no time.

Devney Perry has become one of my favorite authors! Her writing is so easy to follow, and she always charms me with her small-town stories set in Montana.

If you’re looking for your next cowboy romance, it’s here and it’s named Crossroads!

I love all of Devney’s books and this one wasn’t any different.

I loved getting all the flashbacks from their pasts to get to see where their relationship started and how their relationship transformed from a childhood infatuation into a weekly hidden relationship when Indya went to the ranch on vacation to them reconnecting when she bought the ranch.

Their story was heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time, their history and all the possibilities that were missed because of wrong timing or miscommunication were so heartbreaking to witness. But on the other hand, their love for each other and how they always knew that they were it for each other and never stopped loving the other was so special. Indya buying the ranch and wanting to bring it back to the ways it used to be for West was so special.

I’ve been in my small town romance era for quite some time and I just can’t get enough of them. Devney Perry is one of my favorite author because she masters these swoon worthy romances. Needless to say I was ecstatic about her newest series, Haven River Ranch.

Crossroads was such a beautiful story of friends to lovers and second chances. I enjoyed discovering more about West and Indya’s past and the beginning of their special bond forged in their childhood. I felt the chapters switching from present to past only kept me more invested and intrigued about the event that led to them being estranged and rivals. They had such a gorgeous and effortless connection, but heartbreak changed them. It was truly amazing to witness the way they still had an undeniable pull toward each other.

As much as I enjoyed the story, it had a slow start in my opinion. It took me a little while to be completely enraptured in the story, but it might be because it was a new setting and set of characters. Also, most of the story involves only the hero and heroine and we only see the other protagonists sparsely through the book.

Overall, Crossroads was an interesting start to a new small town Montana series. I’m sure it will only get better with the next few novels. I’m already so excited to get my hands on Sunlight!

  9. Gretchen Schmidt

Crossroads is Devney Perry’s new small town ranch series and what an emotional new venture! Perry’s writing dances between angsty, mysterious and sensual. Her characters are deep and interesting with layers that slowly reveal themselves. This new location and situations are intriguing and feel rooted in reality and relatable situations. This new series is a nice new breath into Perry’s worlds and I found the style, the people and the ranch to be the perfect mix to create a beautiful and deep romance.

Perry plays with flashbacks in order to slowly trickle out truths in this story. This is a second chance romance between two people who fell in love as children but points in their lives have pulled them apart. This romance is about rebirth, rebuilding and rediscovery. Perry easily draws the reader in and keeps them interested and guessing on the truth with each chapter. The chemistry sparks, and the deep pull of feelings is ever present.

This novel is definitely worth your time. If you love Perry’s works you are sure to delight. This is a perfect place to start if you have never read from her before and it is the perfect addition to her backlist!

Thank you so much to NetGalley for an eARC, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
