The reviews are what sold this book for me, as they were overwhelmingly positive and everyone is absolutely right! I’ve gotten a ton of watercolor books from the library and bought quite a few as well and I love this one because it is so unique. The author creates little swatches for you to try that are just delightful and the pictures are so beautiful and inspiring. I love the abstract aspect of the work, as the colors and shapes shine and it feels doable. I was also happy to see the concept of color theory being explained differently than usual. I started following the author on instagram and she is lovely and her page is beautiful. I highly recommend this work of art!

The book gave me many ideas to create watercolour paintings in a new way.

This is a fab book if you want to play with watercolours and just have fun. I’ve done several of the exercises and now have lots of ideas for painting, inspired by Kate’s lovely work. it’s colourful, clear, easy to follow and a joy to flick through – friends who have seen it agree!

  4. Christie A. Allred

This book is a true gem, and perfect for those who are beginners, and those (like me) who have been creating art for years but looking to try something different. The quality is beautiful, the instructions great. Can’t recommend this book enough. It should be in all libraries, all art classes.

  5. Tanya

I love this book – just looking at it is enjoyable! I also like to try her techniques without copying the work. Mine have a long way to go but hers are so beautiful and she is so talented. The book gives so many tips and techniques and I can’t wait to try them all. It also provides the colors used in each piece which is so helpful to know. I cannot always tell them by just looking at the design. This is one of my favorite art guide books.

Creative Abstract Watercolors is magnificently inspiring! Tired of trying realistic florals and landscapes? Love the watercolor dreamscapes? This book is the best investment in learning watercolor I’ve made. The exercises and techniques are demonstrated in colors and textures only watercolor can create. All of the “how to” for the perfect color combos, mixing, creating washes, and amazing effects are included.. Techniques are shared with clear directions on how to create them yourself and exercises to explore them. Which brushes? Paper? How to add embellishments? Choosing your color pallette. It’s all covered. Everything you need to create your own expressive artworks. Best information and affirmative instructions. Even the lessons are are eye candy! I loveI that it’s not a video whizzing by. I can study and compare to improve skills. 10 /10 recommend!

This Watercolor Abstract book is amazing! So detailed, exploratory, and fun! Definitely recommend for anyone looking to learn more about Abstract watercolor, or wanting to explore art, or anyone just wanting to have therapeutic art time.
Kate dives into key elements, materials & tools, tips, color philosophy, techniques and so much more. She makes it simple yet filled with information, and it’s so much fun, I love it! No experience necessary, anyone can do this! I can’t wait to create more!

Şahane bir kitap, yurtdışından geldiğinden fiyatı uçsa da değer. Çocuk (10+) ya da yetişkin için farketmez, suluboyayı anlamak için bu kitap gayet yeterli.

This book is exactly what I need. It is clear, details all the things to know and have on hand to start, for example, doesn’t just give recommendations but SHOWS a recommended item and shows an example of what it does. So when I shop for a Filbert brush, I know what it is supposed to look like and what I will use it for and most importantly how it is supposed to look when I use it. Beautiful layout, colors and designs. I love it. My only suggestion is to coil bind it at the top and use heavy cardboard for cover so I can stand it up and flip pages. This book will be in front of me when I paint for a long time. Thank you to the author for thinking of everything and for sharing your beautiful artwork. If you want to know what supplies you need for watercolor and how to use them, this book is for you. The abstract part is so cool because anything you paint is art.

Um dos meus livros favoritos sobre pintura em aquarela; muito lindo!!!!

This book gives clear instructions on how the author step by step makes her lovely paintings so if you like her style it will break it down for you. She also provides stepping stones to develop your own creative textures and designs to make the art your own. The many reviews complaining about the font may be more a comment on the reviewers eye sight, I found this to be easy to read and follow. I bought the paper copy, it may be the kindle version is less readable. The author is very approachable and will comment on your work if you share with her on IG.

I would classify myself as an intermediate beginner.
I love the relaxing nature of this form of watercolor painting. What would be considered a mistake on any other of my pictures can be turned into a beautiful form in these abstract paintings.
You could try to replicate her pictures perfectly or use them as inspiration for your own. As you can see from my examples, I did the latter.
    I highly recommend this book!

An incredible abstract watercolour book. Kate explains everything so wonderfully and easily. She recommends products to use, there are several design specific tutorials in the books as well.

I can hardly wait to get home at night and sit down to paint!
