Detailed description:

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout comes the thrilling conclusion to her beloved Flesh and Fire series…

The line between love and obsession has never been wider.

While Sera is finally free of Kolis and back with those she loves, not everything is calm. Memories of all she’s endured still haunt her, but Sera finally has hope for a future with the other half of her heart and soul. Nyktos desires, loves, and accepts every part of her—even the monstrous bits she still battles.

More than ever, Sera and Ash have everything under the realms to fight for, and Nyktos has no doubt Sera is fit to be the Queen of the Gods. But she must find that faith within herself if they hope to convince the other Courts to support them against Kolis and make Iliseeum and the mortal realm better, safer places for all.

But as Sera begins to piece together the importance of her bloodline and the true meaning behind the foreboding prophecy, it becomes clear that everything that has happened and is yet to come is much bigger than Kolis and his dark obsessions.

They cannot help but wonder exactly how much influence the Fates have had and what their ultimate goal is. What Sera does know for sure is that they can trust very few—including her.

A battle between the gods is brewing, and heartbreaking losses are imminent with the true Primal of Death strengthening. With a family of the heart willing to battle by their side, can Sera and Nyktos stop Kolis before he destroys the realms, or will it all disappear in a fiery inferno of blood and ash?

And the line between justice and vengeance has never been so thin.

This book. It took me awhile to read because one, it’s a long book and two, I had to take my time. I had to take some time and internalize it before I could even attempt to review it. It started where AFITF left off and Sera is now a “baby” primal. She has many new responsibilities and powers and with those comes difficult decisions. But she is not alone in that. She is not only supported by Nuktos, but also by others. I like how JLA portrays Sera’s anxiety and PTSD in BOBAA.

All the characters shined in the book. Even the one who I didn’t want to. Even from the beginning, they stood out. I feel that this was a good ending to the Flesh and Fire series and it answered some questions I had about the Blood and Ash series as well. I cannot wait for TPOBAB to connect the two series even more.

And last, but certainly not least, the draken. I never really liked dragons before these two series. Like I would purposely not read a book if it had dragons in it. Now, I love dragons. I loved seeing young Reaver. Especially seeing how wise and perceptive he was for his age.

The version of the book I read was an advanced copy.

In the final installment we f the Flesh and Fire series, Sera has come into her power as the true primal of life and risen as the queen of the gods the realms are being restored and the lands are recovering from the Rot that began with the birth of the first daughter.

With Ash as her king, the two vow to stop Kolis’s reign for once and for all. The primals of all the courts are called to the Shadowlands as they gather their allies and identify those that will stand with Kolis. All the while, Sera is remembering the things she learned during her assention. Knowledge gained in becoming the primal of life. The ancients, the fates, and the prophecy that drives the stories of both Blood and Ash and Flesh and Fire.

As the pieces fall into place so much is brought to light that will play a role in the distant future’s of Poppy and Casteel. Born of Blood and Ash has so many threads woven throughout the pages – friend made and lost, every action and connection has an impact on the future of the realms

This was a beautifully written end to this part of the story, and I am sad to say goodbye to these characters for now. I am anxious to see them rise again many many many years down the road in the Blood and Ash world.

Okay so, it’s hard to review the last installment of a series because you want to say everything, yet you can’t because spoilers, so I will try my best to keep this just objective and spoiler free.

Born of Blood and Ash begins right after the events of A Fire in the Flesh, we are privy to a new side of Sera and Ash, a more… should I say, domestic? Not like their lives could ever be domestic, but it is the best way I can think of to describe it.

If you read the first 6 chapters of the book, then you probably know what I mean and once you start reading the book, you’ll sure see what I mean.

Side note… if you already read the first 6 chapters that JLA release then you will probably agree with me that… chapter 4 was feral.

Not saying there are no other feral chapters through out the book, but from chapter 4 I knew that every time they could, they would be ravishing each other and it would be feral. I was like, stay in the room you guys!

    Not complaining though.

Something I can complain about is Kolis.

    Kolis needs to go.

    We know we hate him.

We know we need him out of their lives, so by default we know he is very much a present ghost. I don’t know how, but JLA made it so you can really feel Sera’s hunted memories and how deeply he traumatized her through every word she wrote.

The way she went about describing how Sera has and is still dealing with her trauma must have been a hard process, but it was handled greatly (in my opinion.)

It wasn’t glossed over, it wasn’t put to the side, it is something she deals with, with it’s ups and downs and it shows that it doesn’t just go away, it takes time and she is slowly healing and that is okay.

So for Ash and Sera, entombing Kolis is very high up on the priority list, though they first need to come up with an efficient way to do it, which won’t be easy.

We also have Sera learning about her Primal abilities and how they are developing. She is having a little bit of a hard time dealing with not only the changes that come with being a Primal, but also dealing with the fact that not long ago she was training to kill Ash and now she is married to him and both of them are trying to figure out a way to get rid of the true Primal of Death.

    It is a bit much.

Thankfully she not only has a devoted husband who is ready to set fire to the rain and a group of allies that are ready to end Kolis and finally put an end to his reign.

I cannot say enough about the characters around Sera and Ash, specially Nektas and Attes. Both characters bring so much heart to the story, they are devoted and they just make the story so much better. Their sarcasm is on the next level and I loved it!

Armentrout did a great job bridging the Flesh and Fire series with the Blood and Ash series. It was a hard task because of what we started with and how the last book of that series ended, but honestly she set it up perfectly for what is to come in the next two books of the Blood and Ash series.

The conclusion of Sera and Nyktos’ story is filled with so much of everything, love, learning, pain, feral passionate moments, and kick ass action that you will not be disappointed with the way Armentrout brough our favorite characters their version of a happy ending.

There are so many things I wish I could discuss with you guys, but sadly, I cannot because it would be spoilers!!!

I feel like I can finally give out the massive breath I feel like I’ve been holding onto since starting this series. Although at times throughout these last two books I’ve felt like it dragged a little (and ok, as hot as they were, the amount of smut scenes did start to get a little tiresome), I’ve still ended this book with an absolutely massive smile on my face. It’s so nice to FINALLY have some answers to questions I’ve had since I first read FBAA a few years ago, and it just feels like such a massive relief, that’s made me that much more excited to read the rest of Poppy’s story.

I feel like we’ve had so much more character development for the secondary characters in this story, which has been really nice. Getting to really see the personalities of those that replaced the original Primals has been great, and I liked that we finally got to know how they came to replace the original primals.

Attes has quickly come to be my favourite character, I’ve loved to see how his and Sera’s friendship developed throughout this book, and I was so sad at the end, seeing him so hurt over Kyn, and choosing to go to sleep. I would have absolutely loved to have seen him when he wakes up again, see his relationship with Lailah progress. From what I understand, Cas’ family descend from Attes’, so I can only assume that means he goes on to have some more children of his own at some point, and I just feel really happy for him. I’m really really hoping that we see him again in FBAA, as Nektas DID mention to Cas that the primal that his line descended from would soon be waking, but I’m not really sure if he means Attes? Maybe he was referencing a different god? But I’m sure it’s known (I think it was mentioned in an interview or something??) that Cas is Attes’ descendant, but I don’t know, especially seeing as how he’s not one of the Gods known during Poppy’s time. But either way, I hope he does get to meet Poppy, and see that she’s happy and was looked after by Viktor and then Cas and Kieran.

SPEAKING OF VIKTOR! I loved that we got to see him again in this. I adored the ending with him. Knowing that Sera specifically asked for Viktor to watch over Poppy has given me such relief. The way Nektas and Nyktos both acted when they met Poppy really disgruntled me, but knowing that despite everything, there’s no doubt that Sera will be there for her in the next book (hopefully) has made me so happy. I hope we get to see them have a relationship, and I loved that Viktor kept his word to Sera.

I am still mighty curious, especially after that last chapter (which, my god, amazing. The JLA-verse confirmation with Ruin & Wrath!! Perfection!), how exactly Malec ended up turning into such a pain in the bum. I kind of always just assumed that Callum somehow managed to get hold of him and told him a load of lies to basically turn him into the backstabbing little suchandsuch he ended up being, but from reading that last chapter, it seems like Callum was just wandering around for centuries until Isbeth popped up. I don’t know if maybe it’s just an in-verse sign that with every set of twins born, one of them ends up being a disappointment (looking at you, Kolis and Kyn) or what. I don’t know. I’m hoping we find out more in the next FBAA.

ALSO, that twist at the end!! I’ve been sat here convinced that FBAA was gonna turn into this war against the Ancients, but if what I’m understanding from the last chapter is right and I’m not just extremely sleep deprived after reading this non-stop, then the Ancients have already risen following Poppy’s ascension, just not the ones currently under Solis, instead, it’s the ones that are in a distant land (ie, the ones in FORAW) i think?? Hopefully they’ll just stay asleep and we don’t need to worry about that?? Though, like I said, that may just be sleep deprivation that has made me misunderstand.

Also! Special mention to Reaver and Jadis because my god I love those draken and if they don’t both survive this series then I’m not gonna be able to cope. Reaver is so frigging cute and it just makes the fact that he’s so surly and argumentative with Kieran that much funnier. He’s so sweet with Sera and I love how much those two love eachother (and Jadis).

I think the only thing that’s let me down, thinking back on the series, if the fact that we didn’t get to read the scene of Ash telling Nektas and then Ash and Sera telling Rhain, about the pregnancy. I wanna see Ash acting like a happy and excited expectant father! I wanna see Rhain nearly pass out thinking about all the stuff he needs to get organised so they are ready to welcome two little babies!! But hey, if I can read over 700 pages and only really have that to moan about, then that’s pretty good going.

I loved this book. I’ve had a smile on my face the entire way through writing this, which for me is the basis of my ratings. Five stars from me and I’m now looking forward to doing another few rereads to tide me over until the next FBAA comes out!

I knew that I would love it and I am not surprised that I love it so much. Sera and Poppy together is going to be amazing and I can’t wait to read.

If you read this book you are already a fan and as a fan myself I can tell you this book gives us everything we wanted and more. Now everything clicked into place. Now everything makes sense. I am so happy and sad this part of the story is finished. I really wish we can get more, I hope we do… there are still parts that are left untold, open to imagination and I’d love it if one day those moments were printed on page. This book made me love the story so much more! I… thank you, Jen, you are truly a master story teller and it shows. I dont know how I will cope until POBAA ❤️❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹

    Rating: 4.5/5

Before I start anything, this review might contain spoilers from the previous books. If you have not yet read the series, I highly recommend you do it.

This book was one of the few joys that I had this year. I was so excited to start this book and even if I didn’t start it the moment I got it, once I started it, I couldn’t put it down.

The final book of this series continues where we left off in A Fire in the Flesh and from there on, Sera and Nyktos need to find a way to end Kolis’ reign.

I really enjoyed my reading of this book. It had everything and even if some moments I felt like they were more fillers than anything, I wouldn’t change anything.

I loved how much Sera has grown since the first book and this book was another level of growth for her. Learning to live with her new role in this world has gotten her to shape her actions of course, but I feel everything she went through in just the last book alone would push someone to grow.

Nyktos and her will always make sense to me. They are not a perfect couple, but they worked within their strengths and their weaknesses to move forward. I felt like in this book, their relationship was taking a new point, especially with everything that happened with Kolis in the last book. It has come with its challenges, but I do feel they are such a strong couple.

A lot happens in this book and I’m trying to keep this spoiler free, but even if some of these things I predicted, a lot of them I did not and I love this. I don’t know if it’s because I’m not good at predicting, but I think that people will also be surprised by some turn of events in this book.

As always, there are characters you will love and some you will hate, but I think that’s the beauty in this sort of book series because one without the other would probably make it a boring book.

I just need to put this here in my review… I adored Reaver. That’s it. I just love him.

Overall, I loved the whole series and I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the blood and ash series and see where it will go from there.

  8. Mariana Serra

Born of Blood and Ash the last book for Sera and Nyktos journey….I wasn’t ready. Finishing a beloved series always makes me an emotional wreck, and this book was no different. What I love about JLA’s writing is her capacity to make the reader feel deeply through all the ups and downs of the characters, and this book brought so many feels!
The book starts a little slow and I did struggled to get into it a bit, in the beginning, but then everything starts to happen and I became addicted. The last 50% of the book are insanely good. So many important moments and references and set ups for the big plot between the two series of this world. I really loved the way Jen built the story up for us to connect the dots for how everything will link with the FBA series. So much is still in waiting and will still be important but at the same time she gave us a happy ending for these amazing characters.
My only issue about this book is that I wanted more because its never enough and I am not ready to say goodbye. There are some things that I would have liked to see that weren’t on the page but JLA already confirmed they will be bonus content for the future so happy me!
This is the end of the Fire and Flesh series but its not the end of this world and we will see these characters again in the next Blood and Ash book and I can’t wait to see this two stories colide!

Wow! What a roller coaster ride. I’m sitting here finding it hard to put into words how much I adored this story. This book was the culmination of Sera and Nyktos’ journey (for now), and it was everything I could’ve asked for and more. (I still want more!) I laughed at the banter, cried when tragic events occurred, was saddened at the pain many experienced and felt empathy for so many of the characters who had suffered. Surprisingly I even felt some sadness for both Kolis and Callum and wish that they hadn’t turned out the way that they did and that they had made better life choices.
There were so many questions answered that had been plaguing me for a long time and I was so happy to finally gain better insight into the two worlds. I don’t want to give away spoilers so I’ll just say that if you follow the series, grab this book and devour it! If you haven’t read this series before, in my honest opinion, you’ll love it! Now it’s time for a reread. Thanks JLA for another outstanding story, you’re the best! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
