Bearded, bad-boy barber Knox prefers to live his life the way he takes his coffee: Alone. Unless you count his basset hound, Waylon.
Knox doesn’t tolerate drama, even when it comes in the form of a stranded, runaway bride.
Naomi wasn’t just running away from her wedding. She was riding to the rescue of her estranged twin, to Knockemout, Virginia, a rough-around-the-edges town where disputes are settled the old-fashioned way….With fists and beer. Usually in that order.
Too bad for Naomi, her evil twin hasn’t changed at all. After helping herself to Naomi’s car and cash, Tina leaves her with something unexpected. The niece Naomi didn’t know she had. Now, she’s stuck in town with no car, no job, no plan, and no home – with an 11-year-old going on 30 to take care of.
There’s a reason Knox doesn’t do complications, or high-maintenance women, especially not the romantic ones. But, since Naomi’s life imploded right in front of him, the least he can do is help her out of her jam. And just as soon as she stops getting into new trouble, he can leave her alone, and get back to his peaceful, solitary life.
At least, that’s the plan, until the trouble turns to real danger.

Ok, this book took me longer than usual. But I kept waiting until I had no distractions to read it!
I laughed super hard, I loved the town, the secondary characters and I already have a crush on Nash & Lucien.
The girl gang is aspirational and I wanna work in the Honky Tonk, with the best girl mates ever.
Knox is a layered character, with the perfect balance of original and different background but with the sense of reality. Not OTT, making it eye-rolling incredible but in a mix that actually makes sense.
Naomi is also very interesting, yet super funny and with the best BFF in the world. Also, her Sloane addition was cool.
Anyway, jumping straight into the next one!

This is a little spicy so if that’s not your cup of tea, just know that. I loved this book. Such a good read. I’m not sure if it’s because I’m tackling some really hard things in my life right now (aren’t we all honestly), but this book just hit the vibe I needed. I really wish there were people like this in real life too.. the good ones anyway. The author does a great job in describing characters without over detailing. You can tell Knox was never really a jerk just disguised by pain. I love that it’s a happy ending as well.. we need more of those. The authors note at the end is very touching, and that mixed with the ending brought me to tears. I was not expecting that when I picked up this book.. my heart also goes out to the author. Great read!

Enjoyed it, but it will take some time to pick up another books from the series. MMC dilemmas were not enough for his behaviour to be justified

This book has made me realize that the BookTok algorithm might not align with my preferences. This book was a total page-turner and I adored every moment of it! (The series is available on Kindle Unlimited but I’m splurging on the physical copies of this series.) While some folks seem to have a bone to pick with this gem, I just couldn’t get enough.
Sure, The FMC may have her moments of annoyingness and drama – but hey, who doesn’t in a romance novel? Naomi, the Good Twin extraordinaire, struggles with putting others’ happiness before her own and it’s her main flaw. That and her dependence on coffee! Although I didn’t love Naomi as a character, understanding her need to be the “good child” and her heart of gold kept me rooting for her.
Now, let’s talk about our leading man, Knox – cue the heart eyes! I finally get the whole “book boyfriend” craze now. He’s undeniably flawed, dealing with some serious Daddy issues, yet somehow still manages to steal hearts. I am smitten with that man, he’s totally swoon-worthy. While many reviews criticize Knox, I found his character compelling. He wasn’t the flawless small-town hero; he battled his own demons throughout the entire story. He also wasn’t miraculously fixed the moment he met Naomi. His brother Nash briefly stole the spotlight as my book crush for a moment though and I’m excited to read his story in Things We Hide from the Light.
And who could forget the adorable Waylay?
“It’s okay. You don’t have to pretend. Aunt Naomi ‘n me are used to people not wanting us.”
My heart shattered into a million pieces during that moment. While Waylay may have seemed a tad wise beyond her years at moments, she added a sprinkle of magic to the story. I was ready to jump into the pages and shield her alongside Naomi and Knox.
This book was like a delicious mix of all the best romance tropes – mistaken identities, enemies-to-lovers, forced proximity, fake dating, good girl/bad boy, and the classic grumpy x sunshine, all woven together smoothly. I liked that while Knox may be a millionaire, the story doesn’t dive too deep into the typical millionaire romance theme. It’s just a detail rather than the main plot device.
I can’t wait to read the rest of the Knockemout series – especially to find out the history between Sloane & Lucian in Things We Left Behind!

3.75/5 ⭐️
Age Rating: 18+
Pros:
Loveable characters
Comforting Read
Great escape (I would so live in this town if I could)
It made me really want to read the other books in the series
Had me feeling all the emotions!
Cons:
Very unrealistic (I don’t think that’s too much of a bad thing, though…)
The ending felt slightly rushed
Sometimes cringey dialogue
This book was honestly such a good romance! I loved how unrealistic and cheesy it was at times and it proved to be such a fun escape. I don’t think it’s peak quality but I can’t doubt or complain about how much I enjoyed reading it. I try to base reviews off of how the book made me feel while also being realistic about how good of quality the book objectively is.
Make sure that going into it, you know that this is supposed to be an unrealistic, feel-good book. Now there are some emotional and intense scenes in it but that just makes it all the more intriguing! I honestly was on the edge of my seat with how invested I was in these characters. A couple of them felt like cliche characters but Lucy Score still managed to make them interesting and enjoyable. The situations she came up with just made me laugh and they did a good job of showing off the characters and how they behave.
One thing I did find annoying, however, was how back and forth Knox was with things. And I know that’s the point of things… man says he doesn’t care or want to help and yet still does anyway even though he wants not commitment. But I felt it was slightly too constant and obvious. That didn’t stop it from making me slightly giddy every time though…
Honestly, if you know the purpose behind the book and what you’re signing up for, this is an amazing storyline. I’m super excited to read the rest of the Knockemout books because I’m WAY too invested in this small town!

Do you like Brody MMC? Do you small town charm? Do you lots of drama and twists and turns? If you answered yes, then this is your next read! You get all that and soooooooooooo much more!!!!
This book is so good that I literally had a hard time putting it down! Love the plot, and all the characters. The only bad part of this book is I can’t live in Knockemout!!!

This is the first book of the “Knockemout” series and can be read as a stand alone. Though I am jumping straight to book two after this one.
Omg I love Knox and Naomi!!! Knox is so damn yummy. Even when I wanted to knee him in the balls I still loved him. His actions spoke so much louder than his words. Naomi was dealt some pretty crappy cards but this girl is a fighter. I am so proud of her. I would like to middle finger salute her sister!! Don’t get me wrong these two stole the show but the side characters were fantastic! I can’t wait to read Nash’s story (I didn’t miss the “wife” part at the end). I love Stef, Jeremiah, Fi, Sloan, Lucian, Amanda, Lou, and so many more!!
The book was not short by any means but I never felt like it drug on. I heard bad reviews so I was worried but I am not sure how people didn’t like this book. It was sexy, sweet, heartfelt, sad, with some mystery/suspense built in. I was so invested in this book. This is a GREAT read!!

Awesome read. Easy read. Good storyline. It skipped to random events in some places, and felt rushed. That’s why I gave it one less star.

Wow…I just finished Things we never Got over….it was a riveting story. So easy to read and get into feeling like you knew the characters and that you were one of the Knockemout community. Romance and steamy just enough to keep you reading and wanting to know what will happen next. Twist in the story had me thinking one thing but it completely wasn’t what I expected. My emotions were on a roller coaster towards the end of the book. Great read and I recommend reading.

I finally read my 1st Lucy Score book. I’ve had her on my tbr for ages. This extra long romcom was not what I expected. Knox had me wanting to strangle him for a good chunk of the book. Poor Naomi couldn’t catch a break. Screw Tina. Waylay is the coolest and strongest 11 year old I’ve ever read. I loved the family dynamics and small town vibes. Everyone all in your business is a microtrope I love. While I feel this book was 150 pages too long I did really enjoy it. The characters all had a lot of depth to them.

I was meandering through best Sellers when I can across this book. I saw all the reviews and thought…it’s gotta be great if so many people love it!
I was not let down. Loved the vocabulary and even learned a few new words. Characters were well described, interesting and relatable. Loved that the end was so thrilling. Can’t wait for the next book!!!
Leyendo Forever –
I loved the series more than this book, that is not to say that I didn’t enjoy this one, but the world building was a bit too much at times and the action could have moved at a higher pace.
Knox rudeness was the most annoying aspect of the book, but if you wait enough for it to pass and enter in the universe of this series, things improve drastically.
