Es un tema simpático por el grupo de gente mayor que resuelve los casos. Además puedo practicar el inglés

I love the characters. They are quirky, interesting, and unique. I love the details that let me know exactly what the countryside is like as well as the Coopers Chase Retirement Village. Embrace the humor and enjoy the mystery.

Four pensioners, all living in the same retirement home, have formed a tight friendship group. With varying backgrounds they each bring different knowledge from their previous lives, yet the one thing Elizabeth, Joyce, John and Ibrahim can all relate to are the challenges of being old. Although there are many group activities available at the Coopers Chase Retirement Village, these 4 have formed their own group which they have dubbed “The Thursday Murder Club”. The reason for the unusual title is their joint delight in reviewing old, unsolved murder cases (one of the members had access to these files prior to retiring) and discussing how to solve them.
Things take a dramatically different turn when a local property developer, one who was involved in the creation of their own retirement village, is murdered in his home. Now the Thursday Murder Club has a real case to solve. Their biggest challenge is inserting themselves into the official police investigation, both in order to obtain information that the Club needs and so that the Club can help the police by sharing what they have uncovered.
A very quick read, the chapters are short ( there are over 100 of them!) yet, at times, the story falls all over itself with it’s abundance of details – many of which could have been omitted. A good editor would have tightened the story and enhanced it even further. Still, it is a fun read with a plenty of twists and turns as every good crime mystery should have. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Life in a posh, British living facility for the elderly. Great characters. Good mystery. Such a hit, that he’s written sequels.

This is a fantastic book! The plot was surprising and interesting though out, and the author really makes you love the characters they want you to love, and hate the ones they want you to hate. I have read countless mystery books throughout my life, and I this one is my favorite! The dialogue was genuine and funny. I hope you will give this book a shot, I have zero complaints and nothing but compliments.
Enjoys good books –
I liked the book. There were 4 major characters – all quite interesting and different. Takes place in a retirement village which sounds very idyllic compared to the reality of most of them. The plot has many twists and turns and seems to have many paths thrown in to add to the word count of the book. Reads like a made for TV series – perhaps that is what the author wanted. I may read the next one. It’s well written but confusing at first – takes awhile to get to where the story is supposed to go. I’d give it a C+ – I finished it. We read it for Book Club and mostly had positive reviews. It’s not great lit but entertaining. Could be shorter – in need of better editing.

Really a wonderful book! Keep up as characters are introduced fast and furious! Can’t wait to see the movie! Who among us does not love Helen Mirren as Elizabeth!? I wish I could say I enjoyed this book with tea and biscuits, but usually it was coffee and a cigarette. Oh well. I am an American…

A delightful read, especially if you are no longer a spring chicken. Funny and fresh, heart – rending in parts, and for those who have imaginations , for those who love the geography of England and for those who don’t like to have everything spelled out for them. This edition comes with book club questions, a teaser of the next n the series and a reasonably sturdy cover.

I ordered the audible version of this book when it first came out and I admit I didn’t get very far into it before I just abandoned it. Some books are just harder to listen to than they are to read. This book jumps around a lot and I found it impossible to listen to, however I bought the Kindle version and found it very entertaining to read. My only criticism of the Kindle version is that the entries that our Joyce’s diary should not have the font reduced. It made it harder to read.
The characters are very well developed, and I took to them immediately. I will say that I am roughly in the same age category as these characters and I found that the author did make them a little more clueless than was really needed. Just because we’re older doesn’t mean we can’t figure out technology. But at least he did this in a humorous way, and I could certainly relate to the way he portrayed portray these people.
There were enough twists and turns in the plot line that I really did not have it figured out up until the very end. I really am happy that this is going to be a series and I look forward to reading the next two books and also look forward to the Netflix movie. Very excited about seeing that cast perform this book..

First in a series of books that delighted me so much that I couldn’t put it down. Witty, tightly constructed complex mystery plot, wonderfully drawn characters. Great fun with almost Moliere-like depiction of diverse characters that you’d swear you’ve met . . . and surprised yourself by wishing you had. Makes old age look almost tolerable, while very realistic about the problems that creep up once you’re over 70.

What a fun and gripping read. The characters are fantastic and mystery keeps you guessing. I’m going straight to the 2nd book in the series…
