“You must be our new neighbors!” Mrs. Lowell gushes and waves across the picket fence. I clutch my daughter’s hand and smile back, but the second Mrs. Lowell sees my husband a strange expression crosses her face. In that moment I make a promise. We finally have a family home. My past is far, far behind us. And I’ll do anything to keep it that way…
I used to clean other people’s houses—now, I can’t believe this home is actually mine. The charming kitchen, the quiet cul-de-sac, the huge yard where my kids can play. My husband and I saved for years to give our children the life they deserve.
Even though I’m wary of our new neighbor Mrs. Lowell, when she invites us over for dinner it’s our chance to make friends. Her maid opens the door wearing a white apron, her hair in a tight bun. I know exactly what it’s like to be in her shoes. But her cold stare gives me chills…
The Lowells’ maid isn’t the only strange thing on our street. I’m sure I see a shadowy figure watching us. My husband leaves the house late at night. And when I meet a woman who lives across the way, her words chill me to the bone: Be careful of your neighbors.
Did I make a terrible mistake moving my family here?
I thought I’d left my darkest secrets behind. But could this quiet suburban street be the most dangerous place of all?
From New York Times, USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Freida McFadden comes the next installment of the unbelievably twisty, tension-packed and globally bestselling Housemaid series. This book can be enjoyed as a standalone listen: and once you start, it will have you up all night until the final explosive twist.

REVIEW :
New author for me in late 2022 and I’ve read 9 books so far: The Teacher (‘24 – 3 Stars), The CoWorker (‘23 – 3 Stars), One by One (‘20 – Read ‘23 – 4 Stars), The Perfect Son (‘19 – Read ‘23 – 4 Stars), Ward D (‘23 – 5 Stars), The Housemaid’s Secret (‘23 – 5 Stars), The Inmate (‘22 – 3 Stars) and The Housemaid (‘22 – 5 Stars) and Never Lie (‘22 – 4 Stars).
I do love how this authors writing moves along so quickly. I’m about half way and I’m hoping Suzette gets what’s coming to her. I sure wouldn’t have been friends with her; one meeting/outing with her would have been enough. This book didn’t feel like the other “maid” books in the series. I guess because the maid in this one played a minor role thru most of the book. Entertaining read for me.

Great story. Loved it. My only question is, how did Janice already call the cops before Millie got to the house? How did she know something had happened to Jonathan? Enzo was already outback for 2 hours. Ada went through the back door. The cops were on their way before Millie got back to the house to call the cops.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading “The House Maid is Watching” by Frieda McFadden. The book is fast-paced, with vivid scenarios and characters that feel incredibly real. The tension between Millie and Suzette is palpable, making it feel like you can almost hold it in your hand. Janice’s busybody character is also well-crafted, making it easy for readers to identify with her.
The book is well-written and stands on its own, but I did notice a few areas for improvement. Firstly, the third book feels more like a standalone than a sequel, with an age gap of over 10 years between the characters. This made the reintroduction of past characters from books one and two feel a bit laborious.
However, the twists and turns in the book are expertly crafted, leaving me on the edge of my seat. Some chapters had me sweating, while others made me hesitant to turn the page. Frieda McFadden’s skill at crafting suspenseful storytelling is undeniable.
Unfortunately, the ending felt a bit rushed and disappointing. It seemed like the book needed a few more chapters to wrap up the storylines satisfactorily. Specifically, Suzette’s forced confession felt unnecessary, and the resolution of Enzo’s release from jail and Martha’s storyline could have been handled better.
Overall, I enjoyed the book, but the ending could have been improved. Review by Sifelani Willie Selepe.

For the 3rd and final(or at least I think so) of the Housemaid series, I figured I’d jump on this since it recently released. I will admit, I was not a fan of the beginning(moreso cause I just came off of reading mostly fantasy books so it’s a way different genre and mood). I wasn’t sure where this was going cause we know our characters Millie and Enzo, however, the 2nd half of the book is where we start getting interesting. I always think I can predict Freida’s twists but I’m always wrong and I love the element of surprise in her books and this was no different. I think it was a really good end to this series especially if you’ve read the first book there is a lot of callouts and throwbacks to that one.
Is this book perfect? No. I definitely think this would’ve been a good neighborhood thriller standalone but I think it was a good way to wrap up our characters that we’ve grown to know and love. I would think if Freida McFadden decided to write another Housemaid book, I think it would be too redundant. But I think if you’ve read the housemaid series, this is still a good recommendation but it’s not as good as the first book and in my opinion, better than the 2nd book.

Despite being the third book of the housemaid it has been my favorite. Very very good!!!

I couldn’t put this down so I ended up reading through the night. Its a macabre story with a lot of Justice and a happy ending. I read the other two in the series but it was so long ago I don’t remember the details that are mentioned in this book.
If you’re going to read this one, read the other two first and be able to read all three together for a richer experience.
I’m going back however to the cozy mysteries where there’s humor and mayhem but on a lighter note.
These psychological thrillers so well written leave a sick feeling in my stomach and my soul

Of the 3 books in this series, I think this was the best one! It’s about 10 years after the second book and we get to see what’s happened to Millie. She has the family and the life she’s always wanted, but is it too good to be true? Millie finally gets her dream house which turns out to be more of a nightmare. Is her husband really the man she thinks he is, or has she really ever known him at all? There are so many questions. Just when you think you know the answer, it takes a turn. This book is a page turner. I highly recommend reading the first 2 books in order to understand what is happening in this one.
There was a plot hole that bothered me. It doesn’t take anything away rom the book but it bugs me, so SPOILER AHEAD!

SPOILER ALERT!
Mr. Lowell had 2 knife wounds. Any decent coroner would have discovered that they were made with different items, which would have changed the trajectory of the case. This was still a 5 star book, but I wish the author would have addressed that issue because it’s a rather large plot hole.
