Detailed description:

Number one New York Times best seller

In her latest book, Brené Brown writes, “If we want to find the way back to ourselves and one another, we need language and the grounded confidence to both tell our stories and to be stewards of the stories that we hear. This is the framework for meaningful connection.”

In Atlas of the Heart, Brown takes us on a journey through 87 of the emotions and experiences that define what it means to be human. As she maps the necessary skills and an actionable framework for meaningful connection, she gives us the language and tools to access a universe of new choices and second chances – a universe where we can share and steward the stories of our bravest and most heartbreaking moments with one another in a way that builds connection.

Over the past two decades, Brown’s extensive research into the experiences that make us who we are has shaped the cultural conversation and helped define what it means to be courageous with our lives. Atlas of the Heart draws on this research, as well as on Brown’s singular skills as a storyteller, to show us how accurately naming an experience doesn’t give the experience more power, it gives us the power of understanding, meaning, and choice.

Brown shares, “I want this book to be an atlas for all of us, because I believe that, with an adventurous heart and the right maps, we can travel anywhere and never fear losing ourselves.”

This book is an in-depth study on human emotions, how they guide us, the human experience and the positive/negative aspects of them. After reading this, I feel validated in a lot of my feelings towards grief and loneliness. Will be picking this one up again.

  2. Elle

A wholesome book that helped me understand and label numerous emotions that we experience regularly but very often do not address due to lack of knowledge and information. Definitely a book I will revisit often.

This was the first book of Brené’s that I had ever read. I first found it not long after she had released the audio book version. First and foremost I love that Brené herself reads the audiobook version. Her sweet southern accent and passion for her work can be heard in every passage and truly brought this book to life for me. Flash forward to now and I have not only listened to the audiobook several times, I’ve seen the HBO Max special for Atlas of the Heart, listened to the 3 part book club series on Brené’s podcast Unlocking Us discussing Atlas with her sisters, I have also just purchased the hard copy of Atlas for a coffee table book. Because it is truly just that good. I wanted a quick reference guide that I could pick up and flip to the emotion I or a loved one might be feeling in the moment and be able to dig deeper to help process it in that moment. I recommend this book to literally anyone who will listen. Atlas is a pleasureable, easy read, that expands our knowledge and vocabulary around the deep and meaningful experience of being human. Doesn’t get much better than that!

We are going thru the first couple of chapters. It is good and intense at the same time. It’s ironic to find out the meaning of words and feelings that you thought you knew.

As a psychologist, I love this book so much and have gifted it to a lot of people. It’s visually stunning and the teaching about different human emotions is exquisite. Please read this and keep it to hand for the rest of life’s adventures.

I have found a manual to use through life. I feel seen. I feel exposed. I feel vulnerable. I feel equipped. This book is everything you hope it would be. It just so happens to be stunningly beautiful, as well.

I recently picked up Brené Brown’s book, Atlas of the Heart: Mapping Meaningful Connection and the Language of Human Experience. This book is 336 pages powerful powerful exploration of the impact that meaningful connection has on our lives and how to cultivate deeper relationships with ourselves and those around us. Throughout the book, Brown draws on her years of research and experience to provide readers with insights into how to foster meaningful connections.
The book begins with an exploration of the different types of relationships we have in our lives, such as friendships, romantic relationships, family relationships, and more. Brown delves into the importance of understanding the differences between these types of relationships and how to recognize when we are engaging in unhealthy patterns of interaction. She then provides readers with strategies to cultivate healthier patterns of interaction in our lives. The next section of the book is focused on the language of connection. Brown explains how our words can have a large impact on the way we interact with others. She provides readers with examples of how to use words to create meaningful connections with others, as well as how to recognize when we are not connecting with others in a healthy way.The last section of the book is dedicated to understanding the power of meaningful connection. Brown provides readers with insight into how our relationships can provide us with a sense of belonging, purpose, and connection to something larger than ourselves. She also explains how to use meaningful connections to help heal ourselves and others.Overall, I found Atlas of the Heart to be an illuminating and inspiring book. Brown’s insights into the language of connection and the power of meaningful relationships are thought-provoking and help us to better understand the importance of cultivating deeper relationships with ourselves and those around us. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to deepen their connections with those in their lives. Definitely a thought provoking book!

I was expecting a book, like her other books. That was not the case. At first I was disappointed, but eventually came to appreciate that each section of the book clarified many emotions and explained the difference. Appreciate having it now for reflection.
This would be a great book for someone who is Neurodivergent that may struggle with identifying which exact emotion they are feeling, could be a great tool or resource.

  12. J. George

This is good for helping people think and talk about emotions. I enjoyed it and though there are some words I use and have heard used differently, it gets me thinking and hopefully communicating and empathizing better. It is also a very pretty book with photos and illustrations to enhance it. The audio book is narrated by the author which is a real treat.

I just bought my first book in English, and I’m so happy. Brené Brown faz a diferença neste mundo!
