Everyone in Fairview knows the story.

Pretty and popular high school senior Andie Bell was murdered by her boyfriend, Sal Singh, who then killed himself. It was all anyone could talk about. And five years later, Pip sees how the tragedy still haunts her town.

But she can’t shake the feeling that there was more to what happened that day. She knew Sal when she was a child, and he was always so kind to her. How could he possibly have been a killer?

Now a senior herself, Pip decides to reexamine the closed case for her final project, at first just to cast doubt on the original investigation. But soon she discovers a trail of dark secrets that might actually prove Sal innocent . . . and the line between past and present begins to blur. Someone in Fairview doesn’t want Pip digging around for answers, and now her own life might be in danger.

And don’t miss the sequel, Good Girl, Bad Blood!

This book was captivating from the very start. I loved the writing style and extras throughout the book.

It was fun, sad, horrible, and shocking at times and I loved every page.

  2. Heidi

This book is indescribable. This is the book that got me back into reading. I LOVE the plot of the story. It really keeps you in the loop. This book kept me up at night reading it, and I could visualize the characters and try to think of what could possibly happen next. that’s how you know it’s really a good book. It didn’t start off slow, it started at just the right pace, it started off with a little backstory and then went right into the thriller of the story, probably from the first to the third chapter it starts off like that. I also love the interviews that Pip does. It’s really cool and I love how Holly Jackson didn’t use quotation marks for the dialogue in the interviews, because sometimes too many quotation marks lead me to skip a few lines and then I can’t enjoy reading the story. I love the uniqueness of some of the pages, without it using pictures of the characters, which is something I really like, cause it gives the readers a chance to visualize in their own. From the interviews, to maps and notes and boards, it’s truly unique and something I really like. It gives off its own flair. I am buying the other books of this series because I HAVE to know what happens. This is a big win for me, and it has changed my perspective on reading. This is something I will continue throughout my life, and thanks to the few books I’ve read, including this one. I’d recommend this book to everyone! It really is the perfect book, from someone just starting to get into reading, to people who have read for a long time. GET THIS BOOK!!! I CANT SAY IT ENOUGH

It’s perfect for a TV series or a movie. The plot twists and turns make for great viewing on the screen

It’s an old cliche but this book is really one you can’t put down. The story is great, the pace perfect, the characters wonderful.

My only pet peeve was I couldn’t get a copy of the original British version. The American version transforms the story to the USA, and changes some spellings/terms. Unfortunately many translations were missed in almost every chapter. This often happens in dialogue, so the American characters suddenly start talking in British English. I wish publishers would stop doing these unnecessary translations, for me it totally ruins the flow.

Absolutely in love with this story and the characters. I was hooked from beginning to end, so much so that I had to put a lot of effort into convincing myself to go to sleep, unable to put the book down. The story comes full circle and the ending was perfect, in my opinion. I’m honestly so happy I found this book. Can’t wait to read the sequel!

Also, no problems regarding the delivery of the actual book for me, it came in perfect condition and arrived earlier than expected. 🙂

    4.5 Stars
Everyone in Fairview knows the story of Andies’ disappearance.
Everyone in Fairview believes Sal killed her, before taking his own life.
Thanks to Pippa, now everyone knows the truth.

Is Pippa “weird last name” the next Nancy Drew? Cause it seems she could be. This was FULL of twists & and turns, and I didn’t see the ACTUAL* killer coming at all!

*ACTUAL, meaning I suspected the first part of the killer/reveal to be the entire story….

    ✨ PRINCEMAN REVIEW ✨

📝 For her senior project, Pip decides to investigate the mystery of missing person Andie Bell and suicide of Sal Singh. While everyone thinks that Andie was murdered by her boyfriend Sal, Pip thinks differently. Teaming up with Sal’s younger brother, Ravi, the two take risks in order to figure out what TRULY HAPPENED five years ago. Is Sal actually guilty? Or is there an even more sinister figure at play?

🔪 Death Threats to Stop Investigating

Right away I was sucked into the formatting of this book! We are first introduced to Pip, who’s an awkward, homework-loving senior. The story rotates between her POV, interview notes and her project journal entries. I think due to the format, I was hooked and it kept the story moving at a quick pace. I also really enjoyed how from the beginning, we are rooting for Sal. Pip mentions her bias in thinking that he is innocent, and I loved watching her try to prove this thinking. She’s also such a brave MC, even putting herself in danger lots of times (this is where I’d get scared.)

    Prince’s Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
    Scare Factor: 😱😱😱
Read If ➡️: You loved YA cold case mysteries like Truly Devious
Read 📅: Beginning of the School Year, August-October
CW ⚠️: wowsa…lots! Drugs, Alcohol, Murder, Rape, Cyber Bullying, Child Abuse, Pedophilia, Vehicular Assault, Animal Cruelty

Overall, if you enjoy cold case, small town mysteries, this is for you. Of course, I had to read this before the show came out on Netflix. I will say, this book is BETTER than the show. Lots of changes were made, especially if you read the US publication of this book. And, the Barney storyline gutted me. 😭 IYKYK.

This one was such a FUN read and I had a hard time putting it down. I loved the story telling and the pacing was excellent, and was overall just an easy and enjoyable read.

I’ll admit this story does require some suspension belief… For a high school girl to start her own murder investigation, and knowingly put herself in danger, talking to known drug dealers, etc was a bit much. And everyone she interviewed just seemed to spill too much detail all too easily, which just seemed all to convenient if I put too much thought into. But that being said, the way the author wrote the story made it easy for me to disregard those things and still enjoy the book!

I really enjoyed the main character and her gumption. She was very easy to root for and I loved her personality. I do think a little more effort could have been put in to develop her character more, and add a deeper layer of connection for the reader that I think would have taken it to the next level. But once again, overall characters were very well done!

It’s hard for me to enjoy young adult books, but I did really love this one! Didn’t have the usual level of immaturity I often find in other young adult books, so this was very enjoyable for me. Can’t wait to read the rest of the series, and even more excited for the TV show!
