11 reviews for Airplane Flying Handbook FAA-H-8083-3C: Pilot Flight Training Study Guide (Color Print)

  1. N5YM

First of all, as books go, this is a genuine bargain. It is a massive publication, and provides information regarding just about every phase of flying a general aviation aircraft. This is not a user’s guide — it provides in depth explanations of how and why.

The quality is good, the text is readable and the illustrations are first rate. I noticed the book is listed as “color print.” This is the way to go as color coding and contrast are integral to understanding many of the tables and illustrations. I would advise against an less expensive black and white copy as it may render many of the illustrations unreadable.

I am a licensed private pilot, but I have not flown in several years and am no longer current. I purchased this to study up before my flight test to regain currency. I sure wish I had this book back when I first studied for my license.

It looks like a low-quality re-print of the other official book by publisher ASA. The print layout, the ink, etc are not impressive. I have returned and buy from ASA publisher.

I get my book earlier than schedule with a package in really good condition. My book is fresh from the oven — order in Jan 18th and get printed in Jan 17th — , oh wow! New year, new book indeed 🙂

  5. Tony Dennis

One of the most useful flying manuals. Thorough explanations with appropriate graphics. Highly recommended.

  6. The Doctor

What’s not to like? This is the same document you can download for free from the FAA, but in a physical printed format which makes it easier to tab pages to find things, and also easier to spread out a few books on the table when studying.

The print quality is excellent, as is the paper quality, so this is, in my opinion, well worth the price.

Also, it is a better love story than Twilight.

The FAA-H-8083-3C Airplane Flying Handbook is an absolute gem for anyone pursuing pilot flight training. As an aspiring pilot, this comprehensive study guide has been an invaluable resource in preparing for my flight training and knowledge tests.

First and foremost, the color print version of the handbook is a game-changer. The vibrant illustrations and diagrams bring the concepts to life, making complex topics more accessible and easier to understand. The attention to detail in the color illustrations enhances the learning experience, and it’s evident that the FAA has put considerable effort into creating this valuable resource.

The organization of the handbook is highly commendable. It covers a wide range of topics, from basic flight maneuvers to advanced navigation techniques, all in a logical and coherent manner. Each section builds upon the previous one, ensuring a gradual and comprehensive learning process.

The content is rich and accurate, providing a thorough understanding of flight principles, aircraft systems, aerodynamics, and flight safety. The explanations are clear and concise, making complex aviation concepts digestible for aspiring pilots at any level of experience.

I particularly appreciate the practical tips and real-world examples sprinkled throughout the handbook. They provide valuable insights and practical advice for dealing with various flight scenarios, making it a truly valuable resource for pilots in training.

Furthermore, the inclusion of review questions at the end of each chapter is a fantastic way to reinforce learning and self-assess knowledge retention. This feature has been instrumental in my flight training preparations, helping me identify areas that require further study and practice.

The handbook’s portability is worth noting as well. Despite its comprehensive content, it remains lightweight and easy to carry around, making it a convenient reference during flight training, ground school, or even while on the go.

The FAA-H-8083-3C Airplane Flying Handbook is an essential study guide that complements any pilot’s flight training journey. Its comprehensive content, color illustrations, practical tips, and review questions make it a standout resource. Whether you’re a student pilot or an experienced aviator seeking to refresh your knowledge, this handbook is an indispensable companion that will undoubtedly enhance your understanding of aviation. I highly recommend it to anyone serious about becoming a skilled and knowledgeable pilot!

I like having hardcopy books. Getting highlighter stains off of my screen is too distracting. The book is dense with information. Margins are 1/4″ to 3/8″. Note-taking will need to be creative, although paper quality is good. Graphics color is good and distinct, with clear depiction of 3D concepts. A real ticket for flight to my next mental vacation.

  9. Johnnypilot

The printing press they used isn’t the best, but the book still works.

  10. Balasubramanian N.

Altitude is mentioned as attitude in most places throughout the book. Proof reading was not properly carried out.

  11. Don

You will need this book as a reference to aid in passing the written exam. a must have
