This book is an update of the 2020 version. As such, it is almost compulsory for using AI tools and other key Adobe updates.

The main reason I purchased this book was access to the “Web Edition” – the interactive digital edition of this book, which is supposed to include hours of instructional videos. I followed the directions given on page 4 of the physical book, and registered my purchase on the PeachPit website. My purchase shows up under my account, however there is not a “Launch” link needed to access the digital content. I also purchased the “Adobe Illustrator Classroom In A Book 2024” by the same company, and registered online on the same day. Access to the Illustrator edition digital content works as expected, and I’ve enjoyed the content of that book thus far. I did reach out to the company regarding this “Launch” error. It’s been over 2 weeks, and I have not had a response. Especially since this is an “Official Training Workbook from Adobe” I’m rather disappointed, this is not the experience I was excepting for the investment.

The book is good, but I could not access. The online lessons cannot find the proper code. Please help me with this or else I will return the book.

Book is ok to read but free web version of book is better to use on iPad next to computer since you can read screen shots more clearly. The printed book shows screens but difficult to read all the stuff Adobe packs on the main window. My main complaint is that the book tries to cover too much stuff and seems to try to satisfy Adobe’s cloud based apps which are often aimed at designers, rather than photographers. Also the really hard task most Classroom buyers need help with is printing using a printer, like Epson or Canon. But a lot of space is given primary focus to CMYK color profile and preparing files to send to outside lab and less than two pages to sending files to home printer. Most of the photographers I know want help using Photoshop and their printers. I think those who work in CMYK and send stuff to labs know most of the stuff in the book. I think Adobe needs to have the writers focus less on the fancy stuff and to think more on the basics and who is most likely to buy their books or how they control what’s covered in the book. I’ve worked with Photoshop since the 80s and I still need refreshers on selecting, layers, tools, etc. Photoshop is a huge system. Add on Lightroom and it’s mind boggling. The Photoshop Classroom is like taking 4 years of college in one year.

I bought my first CIAB about twenty years ago (when the books still had CD-ROMs attached), but had not touched Photoshop for ten years or more. Having recently subscribed to Lightroom/Photoshop Creative Cloud, I felt the need for some refresher training/updating. CIAB 2024 is perfect in this respect. The book contains 15 self-contained lessons, each covering a specific set of features eg Working with Selections; Masks and Patterns. Importantly, purchase of the book gives access to additional online resources, including downloadable images, video tutorials and interactive quizzes which supplement the textbook material, and appeal to a range of learning styles (visual, auditory, practical, theoretical etc). The preamble to each chapter states each lesson takes about one hour to complete, but this is very ambitious. My advice is, unless you’re on a learning deadline, take your time, try to absorb the learning, and practise on your own images after you’ve completed each lesson. Okay, a bit pricey, but, if you have ambitions to become competent in the huge range of features that the latest versions of Photoshop contain, this textbook provides a very comprehensive starting point. Highly recommended.

This book is clear, comprehensive, well-illustrated, and very well-written. There is no point in paying for an annual Adobe Photoshop subscription if one can’t take every advantage of this fabulous program. I have been using Photoshop for decades ever since it first came out. This book will allow me to make use of the wonderful AI features in the program and other stuff I have not used before. Well worth every penny I paid. Thank you for this great book.

It is the most complete guide I have ever read for photosop, I don’t give it 5 stars because the book arrived wet.
