  1. Gareth

This book is nice and simplistic with a good strong message for all kids. The illustrations are super cute and bright that will keep a child engaged with the story. It’s a simple life lesson given in a way that doesn’t make it preachy or patronising. Nicely done and recommended

  2. jenerek

The writer and illustrator clearly put effort into this book. It’s such a fun read, it’s humorous, and contains a helpful lesson for little ones. If you have any little ones who are struggling with making mistakes and how to handle them, this is a great way to find humor in it and reframe it towards more positive outcomes.

O livro é muito interessante e deixa para a criança a ideia de persistir e de não desistir do seu sonho.

This book teaches kids a great lesson, and my daughter liked the funny yet encouraging story. I like the illustrations too.

  7. Stephanie Pang

My 9 yo and 8 yo absolutely love reading this author’s books – vibrant illustrations, funny stories!

This is a gem of a book that encourages children to embrace persistence, see mistakes as opportunities for growth, and bolsters their confidence in navigating life’s challenges. As a parent, I feel that this is one of the most valuable life lessons to teach the kids.

I’m an early childhood educator and happened to have just received this book when it seemed my entire class of 4-5 year olds day went south at the same time! We stopped what we were doing, had an impromptu circle time, many were crying, sad, and wanting their mothers. By the end of this book, crying became laughter, hysterical laughter, all 15 children had a chance to share an incident they had struggled with, and just like Millie, after lots of practice they accomplished what they set out to do! Each child made a picture of the goal they worked hard to achieve! The graphics and visual illustrations had my children just mesmerized. They want me to read “Millie’s Messy Success” whenever we have a day where everything seems to go south!
This is just a wonderful little book full of surprises and a great self esteem builder for all ages.

My kids loved this book. I am working on building resilience with my kids and this was a great example. My kids thought the book was so funny. It was creative while also teaching a valuable lesson. Glad I found this book!

Love reading this with my 4yo, who is now “making a million mistakes” with a lot less rage and a lot more play.

It was good and inspiring (Although I’m pretty sure Millie is a superhero with all the inhuman things she could do) but I disliked how her Mom seemed so proud and supportive and cheered her on in her first race… But didn’t notice her daughter got stuck and even abandoned her and went home. Then when Millie gets herself unstuck and returns home, her Mom is like, “Where were you?” And I was just like 🤦‍♀️ really? She didn’t even look for her or notice where she went. Aside from that, it was a cute book, I just don’t think, in a children’s book, it should be viewed as “ok” for a parent to be neglectful. I mean, even the Dad didn’t go looking for his daughter. Plus, poor Millie accumulated so many injuries and no one ever took her to the dentist or doctor. 🙄 I don’t typically review negatively on kids books, because I enjoy people’s creativity and usually chock things up to “cartoon logic” (like why do the kids have blue hair and both parents have brown? I’m just assuming they adopted alien kids at this point, lol.)
