I used this book in a lesson with kindergarteners and they really grasped the concepts and were able to refer back to it in further discussions. Engaging text and illustrations

I don’t normally review things. But this book was too good not to review. The artwork is gorgeous and the message is beautiful. I teared up reading it to my little. It’s a powerful book for little kids to remind them of how far they’ve come and much further they can go. I love this book.

La historia y las ilustraciones son lo máximo, me encantaría pedir otro libro ilustrado por Lorena Álvarez! Pero lo de siempre con los libros pedidos por Amazon, la sobrecubierta llegó algo golpeada.

  4. Ryan

Beautiful book. Such a great lesson.

  5. Ashley

This is a great book! It teaches our little ones that it is okay to make mistakes and that progress happens in time.. not over night. For example, no one learns how to ride a bike overnight but one day it will be a skill mastered.

  6. Liss Gallardo

Really amazing message for our kid, on perseverance and trying again and again for eventually mastering pretty much any skill or simply enjoying hobbies for the sake of it, without quitting the minute it gets tricky… I love the diversity in the characters representations! +non binary main character? which is awesome. Illustrations are wonderful.

What a wonderful book. Beautifully written with sweet, but poignant rhymes, easy to understand (my 4.5 yr old daughter loves it), and a truly fantastic message. It’s about how everyone has a cute magical creature called their Magical Yet. It helps us believe in ourselves, get through the disappointments that are guaranteed, and lets us know that we’re not alone when we try again and again. It shows realistically discouraged, then determined kids practicing their way to eventual success and it’s really just a lovely messages.

I’d buy it for any kid from about age 3 on up.

Bought this for my almost four year old who has always had a “poor/quitter” attitude towards difficult or new tasks. She loves the illustrations and story so I definitely recommend this book. I do wish the author had a little excerpt for the parents on how to explain a “yet” … haha for whatever reason I always stumble over explaining a “yet”, maybe because the book talks about it as a physical thing so that is what she is imagining.

We also picked up a couple of other books to try and change her mindset (the most magnificent thing and I can do hard things) and I do notice a difference in her attitude so I think the books are helping.

  9. Alyssa

Book arrived in great shape and is a lovely message of growth mindset.

  10. Agnes Blain

This book has a beautiful idea in it and teaches that some times we need to put a lot of effort to master things. Though illustrations could be mire realistic imo

In my opinion this is one of the best kids books out there. I was a pre-k teacher and am now a counselor who works with kids and I just think this is so sweet, inspiring, and such a good message for kids. I’ve purchased at least 3 times for gifts and each parent loves it.

I love this book. Have a personal copy and bought this one for a future social worker!

I ordered this for my second grade class but read this to my kids at home (ages 4&8). They loved the illustrations and found the story relatable with practical examples. My 4yr old saw the picture of the bike and said, “I fell off my bike today but I’m still getting better at it.” It’s a very engaging story with a great message that the more you practice, the better you’ll get at those things you can’t do YET.

I plan to do this with a literature extension and have my students write something they can do now but couldn’t do in the beginning of first, and then write something they are working on now. This is a new favorite that I plan to incorporate in the first 2 weeks of school every year!
