I waited nearly a year for these to arrive, and when they did I was pretty let down by what seems to be a bare minimum effort.

The 3 main issues, as stated by many other reviewers, are:

    1. Gutter/Spine of the book splits many of the images. Many of the most important details happen to be in the center, and it appears as if they formatted this book in Adobe Acrobat and didn’t bother to consider where the binding would be. The focal point of many of the large gorgeous images is skewed, and hard to read, therefore the image is…well, tarnished. It’s a real shame because some of these would have been better off just smaller and not split across two pages — a sacrifice in overall size for clarity.

    2. The darkness. If you’re trying to enjoy this book you really need to be in a well-lit environment — A hospital would be perfect with those fluorescent lights to be honest lol because man so many of these images are super dark, and the details are lost. This seems to not have been considered. Feels like it was all done online, and they didn’t do a test printing of it before they just printed the whole lot.

    3. Lack of information and credits. Zero write-ups or credits for the images is a disappointment. It doesn’t seem like they had a lot of pride in the end result of their product, and wanted to meet a deadline or something. It’s not a thoughtful compendium of art, it’s just…the bare minimum. Maybe I’m overdoing it on the criticism, but I’m a pretty huge fan, and this feels sort of disrespectful.

That being said — I wouldn’t return it, but I’m glad I got it discounted. The book itself feels well-made. It’s nice to have and flip through occasionally, but it’s definitely a missed opportunity, and I hope that if they are hired for the DLC Art book that it’s a much more thoughtful publication. I understand that the size of the image makes a difference, and a book has a spine and that’s just how it is…but there’s gotta be a better way to format a lot of these images. Other than the formatting issues, it’s a pretty neat collection of art and if you love Elden Ring it’s great to have on the coffee table…provided you have some hearty high pressure sodium surgical lights above you when you want to catch the details lol.

I was one of the lucky ones who received both books in good condition.

The pictures are a bit on the dark side but still 100% viewable. I haven’t noticed any blurry pics like some other reviewers have stated. However, there are far too many pics that are split because they cover two pages. Some reviewers have also stated that the book contains simple screenshots, which isn’t true at all. Most, if not all, pics are hand drawn.

The cover of the book is glossy and beautiful, and very thick. Page binding is also strong.

It is disappointing that the book contains almost zero descriptions, but the sections of the book are labeled and some pics have the location names. This is the same format as the Designworks books minus the artist interviews.

Overall, I’m happy with this purchase, especially considering I didn’t pay full price. Is it worth $50? No, but it’s a solid deal at $30.

    Worth every penny

It’s a waste of money, especially if you buy it from amazon since it will arrive badly damaged. It’s not secured in any way at all. Ordered two volumes in two separate orders in two different day. I knew that if they’ll pack it together it might get bad, that’s why I decided to order separately… They still decided to send them both together. Threw them in a huge box without any bubble wrap, foil… nothing. The box was so damaged that the post office had to wrap it in foil to prevent books from falling out of it. This is ridiculous so if you REALLY badly need it – buy it ANYWHERE else but here. Amazon doesn’t care about the condition of your order or you as a customer, that’s a fact.
Now a few words about the books.
I have quite a collection of similar artbooks, and even though that the ones made by udon are not the best on the market they can be interesting (see Nioh artworks for instance).
But this one? Terrible, especially for 60 usd. it’s not even worth 1/3 of this price to be honest (maybe if it’s not damaged like all the stuff from amazon).
There’s a lot of empty space, no descriptions, 90% of pages could be described as “white background and a small graphic or two in the middle”.
As someone else described it here – it looks like it was made in a word pad by someone that doesn’t care at all about these artworks.
Elden Ring is a masterpiece, all these artworks are beautiful, but these books are by far THE WORST artbooks in this price segment, or one of the worst overall (especially considering the hype around the game and that this is marked as “official” product).
Shame, shame, shame… really, it could’ve been so much better if a person who made it cared even a little bit.

This is a must have for fans of elden ring the pictures are amazing.

Beautiful art book, my boyfriend is very happy

To say I’m let down is an understatement. There is zero commentary or any text in this book. The cover is beautiful foil and the paper heavy, high quality, but that’s the end of the positives. The images are so dark and washed out, you can’t enjoy (see) them. Many images are split by the spine, totally ruining their impact. The lands between are somber, but rich with vibrant color. Did an editor even look at this book before printing? I cancelled my order for volume II.

Amazon’s packaging when it comes to books is always totally abysmal, but this one managed to reach me in perfect condition.

It’s bigger than I thought! It has a gorgeous glossy cover, and all the artwork is stunning.

It isn’t Udon’s BEST art book, as the formatting seems sort of slapped-together with imagery on plain white or black backgrounds without any additional text or details. That’s really the only critique I can think of. I absolutely love the book, and I think it’s a must-have for any big fan of Elden Ring.

  9. Joao Victor Loureiro Rodrigues

  10. Kendra

Wife bought this for me for Christmas… very fun to flip through as an Elden Ring fan!

  11. EvilAsh

  12. BBowman

My son loved this book. Very nice! Colorful art work

  13. Dom Tor

As many other reviews here have said, the book itself is great, but the packaging it was delivered in is clearly not secure enough to prevent damages to the book cover.
