I was expecting just a dictionary of stitches to reference, but the book is a great reference to crochet as a whole, from equipment, to basic stitches and notation to a substantial directory of stitches. I love this book and will reference it lots in the future in playing with designs and trying new stitches. However I docked a star because in the first 3 minutes of flipping through I found a typo on page 33. I believe the word you were looking for was “project”. I’m surprised a printed book with substantial publisher backing was printed without a basic spell check or human read through.
Overall though, excellent for my needs, would recommend!

This crochet instruction book is simply amazing! I bought it for a relative who is learning how to crochet (but I might also grab another one for myself soon). It’s quite comprehensive yet not overly detailed; instructions are easy to understand. The photos are plentiful (yes, every stitch is photographed) and very colorful. The book isn’t too heavy, and the glossy pages open wide for easy reference and are well bound. I love looking at this book. I think it should be on the shelf of everyone who loves to crochet.

This is a book that’s impressed me. Im a Knitter first . Yet, I love crochet also. I needed some stitch ideas . The color photos in front show every stitch in book, but then are shown enlarged with suggestions for best uses , as well as separate photos showing the stitch being done , charts & written . Most basic onwards. I feel this book is one that won’t sit collecting dust . It’s valuable for beginners with instructions for basic stitches & refreshers for those returning, lots of modern & traditional stitches for reference for experienced looking for a new idea . I am very happy with my purchase. I’ve only been crocheting for a little over two weeks and learned from YouTube. I’ve made two blankets…first one wasn’t so good but the second came out beautifully…something to be proud of.
While there are tons of tutorials on YT, it’s so hard to decide which stitches to to look for, etc. especially if you’re new to this. So I purchased this book for that reason. This is a wonderful, wonderful crocheting tool. The instructions are very clear to understand, very clear pictures of the patterns and instructions. I’m extremely happy with this book.
What I like the most (other than the layout, clear instructions and pictures) is how it tells you the multiples needed for each kind of stitch. When learning from YT some people don’t mention the multiples needed for the particular stitch for example but this book provides the needed multiples for every single stitch that it has within the book.
If you’re a beginner, I definitely would recommend this book. I can even imagine this being helpful for long-time crocheters who would like to learn new stitches.
The stitches are so beautiful too. I really believe this is worth every penny. Plus, other sellers (like craft stores) are selling this book at a higher price-point. I like this book so much that I’m going to wrap the cover to keep the book in great condition.

The book makes really good reference material. The stitches are both described step by step, and diagrammed. Lots of pictures. I’ve been crocheting for 40 years and there are new things in there for me to learn and try. This would make a great gift for someone who crochets, whether they are new to it or have been doing it for years.
