INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

Former White House Press Secretary and current MSNBC host Jen Psaki shares the surprising lessons she’s learned on her path to success and offers unique yet universal advice about how to be a more effective communicator in any situation.

Not many White House Press Secretaries capture the nation’s interest the way Jen Psaki did. Refreshingly candid and clear, Psaki quickly became known for her ability to break through the noise and successfully deliver her message. In her highly anticipated book, Psaki shares her journey to the Briefing Room and beyond, taking you along the campaign trail, to the State Department, and inside the White House under two Presidents. With her signature wit, Psaki writes about reporting to bosses from the hot-tempered Rahm Emanuel to the coolly intellectual Barack Obama to the surprisingly tenderhearted John Kerry. She also talks about her time working closely with President Joe Biden from the start of his administration to set a new tone for the country, restoring a sense of calm and respect for the role of the media in our Democracy.

Since leaving the White House, Psaki’s star has continued to rise. She launched a highly rated show on MSNBC and was so successful that in just six months she was given an additional primetime Monday slot, ahead of Rachel Maddow. And Psaki’s work doesn’t end at the office. She is the mother of two young children and shares her stories about the journey of communicating as a parent: During one bedtime briefing, her young daughter asked the question, “Why do wars start?”, which Jen carefully explained and then got a follow up: “Have you ever seen a unicorn?”

In Say More, Psaki explains her straightforward approach to communication, walking you through difficult conversations as well as moments where humor saves the day—whether it is with preschoolers, partners, or presidents. She addresses the best ways to give and receive feedback, how to connect with your audience, how to listen actively, and much more. Say More is the book Psaki wishes she had when she started her career, and is a trove of entertaining, essential lessons from one of the most prominent voices in American politics today.

  1. Larry Barnard

I admired this woman from her Obama days to her Biden days and now on MSNBC. She is professional and personable. This book conveys her message in a way that makes sense and is easy to understand.

  2. millieross

This book is easy to read and some parts of it were very insighful, funny, and gave great insights.
Jen’s personality and authenticity comes through as she appears to be in her prior role as White House Press Secretary and current host of her MSCNBC show.

But it wasn’t the wow that I had hoped it to be. The pictures in the book were grainy and poorly replicated.

I was puzzled why the publisher didn’t invest in quality B & W glossy pictures. This took away from the overall quality of the book.

Overall if you are a political junkie like I am, it is still an interesting read – especially her observations of President Obama.

  3. (Sharon Doucet) Shay D

This is an informative and well written book.

  4. Snobuddy

I watch Jen Psaki on the Meidas Touch Network on Youtube. She’s an awesome person with an amazing career to date. Her book tells a lot about her White House experiences with multiple Presidents. A good read.

  5. Just-Bob

It was an easy listen that kept my attention. It would be an excellent resource for anyone heading out into the world of communications, publicity, politics, or even navigating a large organization. It has many good insights, including some valuable life-career balance advice. There is enough humor and candor to feel like she might have relayed the information to you over a weekend around a campfire or while on long walks. Yes, there are behind-the-scenes stories, too, that are interesting and fit in well with the narrative.

  6. Nancy

Enjoyed this book. Insightful and ineresting.

  7. A Close Reader

I bought the book as a “you go, girl!” support of Jen Psaki, but I am reading it. This book is an interesting account of her rise through various government agencies and campaign jobs. She candidly shares the challenges of moving up inti jobs of increasing responsibility, how to accept disappointment, and of how to balance a young family with the important work of White House spokesperson (lucky in her choice if spouse!) Psaki diplomatically offers generosity in the evaluation of some difficult situations that many others might have thrown up their hands (or middle digit) in response.

I look forward to her work in journalism after the political years.

  8. Fiona

I enjoyed reading the book. I learnt a lot about communication etc.

  9. Fiona

I really enjoyed this book. I didn’t know when I bought it that it also contained life lessons for communication – I bought it purely for the insider’s take on her role. However, I enjoyed both sides of it immensely! Nice job Jen!

Jen Psaki is a an author who is engaging and well spoken.
An inside look into the White House. She offers helpful tips on how to be an effective communicator, for all of life’s situations.
A nice book to gift someone, as well , for encouragement.. especially, for young women moving up the corporate ladder.

  11. Amazon Customer

An EXCELLENT BOOK ON HOW TO LISTEN!

Out of everything said in Jan Psaki’s writing; this hit home hard, and I plan on listening more, and more importantly will be trying to understand another person’s viewpoint.

The very best of her advice in her writing was about critical and active listening.

Hoping to utilize what I learned , and fully trying to listen more – with a significant other.

Know her words and advice will be the most important part of our conversation; direct from Psaki’s advice in this read!

I know I have just had some very important advice; and plan on “carrying her words” forward.
Am thankful that If nothing else; that is the direct effect of her words in this great read!

If nothing else that is the main lesson learned from a person who was also teaching this in her words and examples.

    An excellent read!

  12. Joseph L. Burke

There is nothing in this book worth knowing except that a reader will discover an author without talent and/or useful information. I wish I could forget that I purchased it.

  13. Dema K. Stout

This is an interesting read with valuable insight, told in a very readable style. Jen shares great tips on the importance of preparation and social skills development. I bought another copy for my youngest granddaughter, who is just starting her career. Lots to learn from Jen!
